Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Marriage look-up: ROBERTSON
« on: Monday 26 June 06 18:36 BST (UK)  »
Hello all,

I am looking for a marriage between Richard Robertson and Mary (maiden name unknown) which likely took place in the  Newington or Lambeth area, around 1820 (??).

Richard Robertson b. abt 1795, Newington, Surrey
Mary b. abt 1796 (place unknown)

They had a son, Robert, b. abt. 1823, Newington, however I cannot be sure this was their first child.

Richard's father was Peter Robertson, but I have no other details for him.  If there is any sign of a marriage for him in the late 1780's or early 1790's, that info would be much appreciated as well.

I hope all this is not too much to ask.  Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you in advance. :)

Thank you for the further census info.

In 1881 Daniel Attree is listed as "formerly farmer", age 90. You're right --- a pension would have come in handy, especially when caring for the orphaned grandchildren!

Many thanks for your time :)

Hi Sillgen,

I have Charlotte (Reeves) Attree's death certificate from 1873, and she was 80 years old at the time of her death. This is how I came up with a birth year of  1793.  But you're right, it seems odd to require the consent of her parents in 1817...the plot thickens!

It sounds like a visit to the LDS Centre is in order.  Thank you so much for your assistance.

Mossflower.

Hi Dimps,

Thank you for the information -- every little bit helps!

It's wonderful to have the exact marriage dates, and the 1841 info is also new to me.  Thanks again!

Sussex Lookup Requests / REEVES in Bexhill

Hello,

Can anyone help in my search for the parents of Charlotte Reeves who was  born Bexhill c. 1793 ??

She married:
1. James Ockenden abt. 1817
2. Daniel Attree  abt . 1830 - 1832 (sometimes spelled Atree)
I believe both marriages took place in Bexhill.

The 1861 census for Bexhill shows Henry Reeves, age 67, born Bexhill who might be her brother.

Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks  :)
