Australia / James Mckechnie Forsyth b1899 Shotts Lanarkshire Scotland to Laura near Adelaide

Trying to find the ship he sailed on from UK. Apparently a man from Adelaide bought Clydesdale horses for breeding in South Australia and James was charged with looking after them on the boat. Jame then bought a farm in Laura and kept dairy cows. He married in 1931 to Francis Edith Longbottom in Burra District. He died 1967 buried in Port Adelaide, she died 1988, buried in Laura. Cannot find any details of the farm in Laura. Suspect he sailed between 1915 to 1920? Any help appreciated.

Yorkshire (North Riding) Lookup Requests / William Pratt Death 1893 North Ormesby Cemetery

Hi All

Looking for a burial of William Pratt died June 22 1893 at 12 Railway Terrace, North Ormesby, Middlesborough. Assumed Anglican so would he be buried at the Church (is it St Cuthbert's?) or the local Cemetery.

His wife Ann or Annie (born 1848) is still alive in 1911 census and in Middlesborough so presume she may also be buried in same place.

Any suggestions?

Canada / Canadian Birth Certificate 1919

Hi everyone

Can anybody enlighten me re applying for a birth certificate from the UK for a Canadian ancestor (grandfather) of my daughter in law born in Windsor, Ontario. I have the short form birth cert but need the long form one to find exact details. My daughter in laws mother lives in Cape Town, South Africa so correspondence except by email is difficult.

Canada Lookup Requests Completed / Edward Hunt passenger list Feb 1918 COMPLETED

Hi everyone

Having a problem confirming a sailing to Halifax, Nova Scotia from Liverpool England. I have an Edward Henry Hunt sailing on 2nd Feb 1918 on board SS Olympic he was in the CEF returning home for discharge in March 1918 having been wounded in WW1 France. He married his wife Florence Ethel Netherclift in Aug 1917 and had a son Harold Edward on 27th Dec 1917. I believe they all sailed together on this ship but have tried searching Ancestry and got confusing results, ie and Harold Edwart Hunt (which is probably the one), Florence Ethel Hunt (probably the right one as only one listed) and Edward Hunt. I just need to know if they all sailed on the same boat. They destination was Toronto and then on to Windsor.

Hi all

Desperately looking for Charles Ling FURNISH in 1891 census probably in Leicester area, he was an Upholsterer. He is deceased on his sons marriage cert in 1916 and I cannot find him in 1901, or indeed 1881. His son is Herbert Furnish born about 1888 who is a private AOC in 1916 when he marries. Any help appreciated.

Having a problem reading the rank or profession of Private in what army or is it Absent on Leave? He is 28 and getting married in Leicester as that is where he was born. Do not know any other details yet.

The Lighter Side / New online game World of Rootschat!

Just been struck by a sudden brainwave and as I was replying to a post. How about a game called World of Rootschat. You know where you play the role of detective etc ..... and have to search various worlds or towns cities on quests for the various scrolls, parish registers census info etc. Collect gold and trade it to see images of ancestors etc. Any thoughts?

Hi all

Just had a sudden thought

What made people baptise their children on certain dates, eg a month later or Christmas Day etc or even as adults. Also when they chose to get married. Would love to computer som statistics on that rather like the rootschat variety. Any suggestions or comments?
