Have you also tried hughwallis igi batch numbers page because you can search direct from there for each parish etc, though if site is down for maintenance then it will still be going slow etc.

Technical Help / Re: IE7 Vs. Mozilla
« on: Monday 28 May 07 13:56 BST (UK)  »
I always preferred netscape to IE because of the problems with viruses etc.  Tried Mozilla and it works faster and I don't have problems.  Would not touch IE7 as too many problems documented and I am personally not a fan of IE anyway having been brought up on Netscape and WIn98 which I still use.  Sometimes if I want a sense of adventure I use XP on the laptop!

I find the CD-r discs the most useful as the one time I used a CDRW it did not work!  I only have a dvd rom drive and CD-R as the CDRom drive bit the dust!  Will be using memory sticks soon as family tree is over 500mb!

The Lighter Side / Re: Am I the only one searching my tree ?

My sympathy indeed Carol22.  I was having the same problem for a number of years on the Rowley side (direct line) and found them via rootschat 3 mile up the road from the last census in 1881!  I have smith and Jones (Shropshire) so no hope there!

Cheers

Hi rokerman

Have a lot of Coates from Co Durham area around Cockfield, back to around 1706.  Can exchange info if you like.  PM me on rootschat to discuss further.  Many thanks.

Hi SharonK

I use FTM v10 and input all my data as usual.  In the notes section I add all the census info in note form like the census1881, born, age, occupation and residence.  Works well for me and I have nearly 13,000 in the tree with images. The file is over 500Mb so far!  :D

Hi Jorose

Recent developments since my last post.  Found out he did not die then but signed up again for WW2!  Do not know when he was discharged or died during or after the war.  Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

John Rowley
