London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1881/91 Census search for Clotzman
« on: Friday 09 February 07 21:47 GMT (UK)  »
Some help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I just found a Morris Clotzman registered Mar of 1889 from Mile End.  Are there any census entries for 1881 or 1891 for a Clotzman?
I am searching for the birth of Maurice/Morris Raymond Freeman born 12 Sep 1888 in London, according to his US WWI Draft Card Registration.  Recently, I found that he had changed his name from Klotzman to Freeman when he moved to Cleveland, Ohio around 1910.  Family lore says his mother, Sarah Klotzman divorced her husband, Joseph, and came to the US in 1890 or 91 (on census information) with Maurice.  She then married an Abraham Lubin in 1892 in Manhattan, NY (IGI).  Family stories also state that Maurice returned to England for eye surgery as a young boy.  I haven't been able to find Maurice on the 1900 or 1910 US census.

The 1900 US Census of Brooklyn, NY lists :
Abraham Lubin, 35, b. Russia, mar 15 yrs(20 yrs in 1910 census
Sarah      Lubin, 30, b. Russia, mar 15 yrs   "     "        "         "
Morris      Lubin, 14, b. England
Jacob       Lubin, 11, b. England
Joseph     Lubin, 10, b. England
Louis        Lubin,   3, b. NY
Hyman      Lubin,   1, b. NY
Max          Lubin,  15(?), son 1st wife, b. NY

I know this is the correct family as Maurice/Morris' obituary lists his half brothers, Hyman and Ben (b. 1901) Lubin.  The Morris in the above census is not the correct one as I've been able to follow him through the census to 1920, 2 marriages, and his death in 1927.  Also, he has a son Charlie by his 1st wife who shows up living with his uncle Hyman in the 1930 census.

On the IGI I found a Sara Klozman Soylle who marries Abram Lubin 6 Nov 1892 in Manhattan, NY, NY.  Her father is listed as Morris Soylle and mother   ...oche Lee.  I've also attempted to find him in the Free BMD Index, but haven't found him under the name of Klotzman, Klozman, or Soylle.

I will be very grateful for any help trying to find this young man.
