Thanks for that information China.   Definitely not Gt.grandmother then, as she died in 1909.

Isn't it frustrating that no-one thought to write down who the photos were of.

Thanks Frank.   Well worked out.  That certainly appears to be the same uniform.  And the boy wearing it looks even younger than the boy in my photo!

Not my great uncle and gt.grandmother then.

I'd love to hear some opinions on this please.

The lady on the right is my nan - born 1887.

Her brother was born 1888 and their mother was born 1870.  I wondered if this might be a photo of them.  BUT, nan's brother wasn't in the army.

So, do you think this uniform looks genuine, or could it just be a "prop" hired out by the photographic studio?  Has anyone come across the hiring out of uniforms before?

The woman standing on the left appears to be pregnant.

Do you know who she is, and when her child was born?

Apologies if she isn't actually pregnant.

Hannah,  There's more than one William Cobbett who lived in Farnham.   We really can't begin to try and help without knowing some more details.

That's interesting Supermoussi.  I wasn't aware of any of the church's traditions.

Did your family live very far from the church?  Is it possible they still had family living in the area, so decided it would be a convenient place to hold the wedding ceremony?

St. Dunstan and clock are still standing.    I don't think it was ever a particularly "special" church to be married in though.

Hackney Road is a fairly busy main road.  There are a few Victorian and Georgian buildings still standing, but, unfortunately, not nos. 226 or 230.

On the 1911 census George and Selina and family are living with James and Whilemina Holly -

On the 1891 census there's a Selina E. Holly - single - servant - born 1871 in Islington

As Selina is single on the 1891 census, and didn't have children until 1894, maybe George Prinz was already married to someone else.   This could be why he didn't marry Selina.
