removed is the seperation of generations coming down from the original common acestor - so you are a 2nd cousin once (one generation) removed from a 3rd cousins parent ...

This may help:-

The Common Room / Re: Posting Images from Ancestry
« on: Monday 23 October 17 16:00 BST (UK)  »
Here's what the National Archives had to say about it in 2009 ..... this was for paid research, so your own useage which restricts the copying to your own Blog will be fine ..

"The terms of our licences with commercial providers (Ancestry, Findmypast, Genes, S&N and Origins) allow, under “permitted end use”, the supply of individual images and information to individual customers of a paid researcher, so as long as the service you provide only provides tailored, “one-off” packages of images to individuals (which seems to be the case). You are perfectly entitled to download images of census pages for your customers and return them as part of your paid service. The only restrictions apply to people bulk copying or re-selling images as a commercial business.

So, in brief, you do not need a licence from us, or from our commercial partners to carry out paid family history searches which include individually selected document images.

Do you have his middle name - and any idea what Service (Army / RAF etc) he was in ?

If you do, try searching John Campbell in the Commonwealth War Graves site - www.cwgc.org

Click on the Junk Email folder, then locate the email in question & right-click on it .... select 'Not Junk' or similar option from the small menu that appears ... it may give you a choice as to where to relocate it, but it will probably opt for your Inbox ...

The Common Room / Re: What is 'Fold3'?
« on: Friday 01 September 17 14:46 BST (UK)  »
The www.Fold3.com website states:-

Quote
    Why Fold3?

Traditionally, the third fold in some flag-folding ceremonies honors and remembers veterans for their sacrifice in defending their country and promoting peace in the world.

Actually not so - all Census schedules were filled out by the Householder when possible - the Enumerator collected those schedules and wrote them up - these are the source images seen in 1841 to 1901 (the original schedules were destroyed)

The 1911 was/is the first census to keep those personal schedules as the source for transcription.
