Norfolk / james and john greeves
« on: Monday 04 June 12 20:09 BST (UK)  »
One of my  lines of enquiry has brought up an interesting combination.
I have John Greeves (Greaves/Grieves) married to Theodora Ward (June 1840 Wisbech) and showing in the 1851 Census living in Brancaster with 4 children including Lucy aged 1. (qv Lucy Nurse)

At the same time there is in Brancaster James Greeves married to Theodora, also with 4 children. I can find no trace of this marriage  and have presumed it might have been before 1837, although that would mean that both James and Theodora were very young when they married as the eldest child is shown as being aged 15, unless of course he was James brother.

It seemed rather co-incidental that two brothers (I assume as they were both born in Bircham, John in 1817 and James in 1823) married two women, both born in the same village, and of equal age, with the same christian name and the two families living in the same village.

What I would like to determine is the surname of James' Theodora.

A bit convoluted but.!!!

Durham / Lucy Nurse - South Shields
« on: Friday 01 June 12 20:37 BST (UK)  »
Lucy Nurse (nee Greaves/Grieves/Greeves) born Brancaster, Norfolk c 1850/1 married Anthony Nurse 1869 in South Shields. They had two daughters Pleasance and Georgina.
Disappeared sometime after 1875 and before 1881. Not living with her husband 1881, who is shown as Widower and living with his brother and family in South Shields.
Rumour has it that she  "went off" with an unnamed butcher from Jarrow.
Despite looking and asking all manner of people and questions I have yet to discover details of her later life and subsequent demise.
Now clutching at straws. Any info , suggestions or help appreciated.

Somerset / Frederick George Rogers
« on: Saturday 28 April 12 17:39 BST (UK)  »
Frederick George Rogers born 1845 Midsomer Norton was a blacksmith. He Married Elizabeth Minty at Dilton Marsh in Wiltshire in 1867. They had seven children Elizabeth, Ernest George, Alice, Lily, Kate ,Charles and Wiliam.
His wife died 17th December 1882 from a diabetic coma.

Frederick then emigrated to US of A sometime after her death with all his family except Ernest George.  Not recorded in 1891 Census.
He married Alice ? (b  Hoxne ,Suffolk c 1860) and is shown in the 1901 Census living in Leeds with his wife and daughter Ethel.

Can anyone please help on date of departure for America, and destination; date of return and any details of his wife and daughter (where married and where daughter born)

I believe he died in Dewsbury c 1918, but what of his wife Alice?
His daughter Ethel married Fred Brook in Huddersfield in 1911.

Any leads appreciated.

Since my original post I have made telephone/e-mail contact with two cousins (neither of whom I have met) and both of whom, independently, have been researching the Isaac line. We have gone back to 1707 to John Parsons but there is some discrepancy with the name of his mother.
I have Ann Kimber  , my cousin has Edith Norman.

On another side of the tree I have a Temperance Kimber who married Elias Greenstock (1814) (Stalbridge) whose grand daughter Emma Jane married Frederick parsons , my great grandfather.

Any information regarding "Kimber" or "Kember" would be helpful, as the three of us are contemplating a "meet" in May to compare notes.

Thanks
