Census Lookup and Resource Requests / 1841: Quinlan, Mary
« on: Monday 15 August 22 19:03 BST (UK)  »
Evening all,

I'm looking for Mary Quinlan and her husband William.

Timeline of things I DO know about her (and family)

b. abt. 1817 as Mary Mitchell (possibly in Ireland)
m. 8/10/1938 St. Giles in the East, Middlesex to William Quinlan
1841: 3 children b. March 1841; Bridget, Catherine, Julia.
1844: 1 child John.

I've got Mary on the 1851 census.
Living in King Street, St Giles.

I think William and Mary are both born in Ireland.
I'm finding it hard to find this census AND their births.

Thanks

England / Harris Family
« on: Tuesday 26 July 22 19:06 BST (UK)  »
A request for some help if I may.

According to the 1911 census (https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageviewer/collections/2352/images/rg14_00467_0483_03?treeid=184141829&personid=152400111537&hintid=1032369144313&usePUB=true&_phsrc=lzw3687&_phstart=default&usePUBJs=true&pId=1443137)
David Charles and Harriet had 12 children, 5 survived 7 died.

I have traced 10 of them but cannot find the final 2.

David Charles Harris Married Harriet Lissy Hugkulstone 18th March 1891 at Holy Trinty Lambeth.

The children are as follows:
Emma Elizabeth (1890-1891) Lambeth
David (1892-1893) Lambeth
Adelaide (1894-1894) Lambeth
William Samuel (1896-1979) Lambeth
George (1998-1974 (Lambeth)
Albert  Edward (1900-1991) St George's Hanover Square
Lizzie (1903-1991) St George's Hanover Square
Julia (1904-1905)  St George's Hanover Square
David (1905-1978)  St George's Hanover Square [My Grandfather]
Bessie (1910-1910) St George's Hanover Square

I've looked through FreeBMD, the GRO index, Ancestry, FindMyPast, FamilySearch.

Any assistance to locate the missing two deceased children would be gratefully received

Thanks in advance,

Neil

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Frances Mary Watson Baptism
« on: Wednesday 18 May 22 19:27 BST (UK)  »
Good evening one and all,

Whilst researching I have come across a possible family member.

According to various sources Francis Mary Watson was born in Dorking, Surrey (No proof as yet of that) and baptised in 1586 in "London, London"

Please  could someone have a look at the attached file and tell me where on earth the baptism of Frances Mary Watson, daughter of John is.

I think it is on the 2nd October 1586 which I suspect is on the right hand side about 1/4 the way down the page.

London and Middlesex / Tower Hamlets Church ID
« on: Monday 18 April 22 17:22 BST (UK)  »
A very good afternoon to you all,

A while ago I found an Ancestry Doc on the marriage of
Thomas Brown marrying Barbara Moore in 1774 (10September) in Tower Hamlets Wapping, Middlesex, England.

This is a link to the Marriage entry

As you can tell from the image and record it doesn't explain what church it actually is.

Whilst I was in the area on Friday I was eating in The Prospect of Whitby pub and it occurred to me to have a look for the church that Thomas and Barbara were married.  There are quite a few.

BUT

St Paul's was known as the "Sea Captains Church" and as Thomas was a sailor it makes sense that this could be the church.

Anyone have a confirmed ID of the church in question ?

Thanks in advance,

Norfolk / Norfolk Graveyard assistance
« on: Monday 21 February 22 19:24 GMT (UK)  »
Good evening everyone,
I'm planning a trip up to Norfolk (and Suffolk) to take photos of the family history churches. I have a couple questions regarding burials in the local graveyards.

1. I have dates from Ancestry/FindMyPast/FreeReg etc. Is there any free resource for the locations in the graveyards of those buried?
2. The Parishes involved are:
   2a. St Michael's, Beccles 1819
   2b. All Saint's, Beighton 1797
   2c. St. Andrews, Stokesby 1729
   2d. St Margaret's, Upton 1779

Any help gratefully received.

The Common Room / Henry Hugkulstone - confused
« on: Monday 14 February 22 17:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help me with this.

When idling through Ancestry earlier I came across this
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/discoveryui-content/view/237459:60609?tid=180019175&pid=312336281377&queryId=78ae4c3a0d552ccdaf3725222df8edaf&_phsrc=SqC19&_phstart=successSource

Henry Hugkulstone - Merchant Navy Apprentice.  :o

My own ancestor Henry Hugkulstone was born in 1848 in Stepney East London.
He was given Freedom of London Henry's father was John.

It's the 1866 Merchant Navy Apprenticeship that's confused me.
So from what I can glean from the entry
Henry looks like he skipped off from the Merchant Navy.

So is there any more I can find out about this Merchant Navy bit?
Would Henry been imprisoned ?
It says deserted Wm Penn at ???? (Lund? ) 30/01/1867
What is Wm Penn?
Lund?

So many questions ...

If you can help then thanks in advance,

Neil.

London and Middlesex / West London Observer Request
« on: Sunday 13 February 22 20:35 GMT (UK)  »
Evening all,

Can someone help please.

A while ago I looked up a newspaper article in 1931.

The newspaper was: West London Observer
Published: 8th May 1931
Article: CRUSHED BY ELEVATOR YOUTH'S TRAGIC FATE

For some obscure reason I have lost the file I saved it on.
I also somehow have lost all access to the Newspaper archive.

Could someone possibly get me the article please?
As an image or pdf I'm not fussed.

Thanks in advance,

N.
