The Common Room / Re: Living people on the 1939 register

The record for my mother was closed until I requested it be opened & giving the evidence they required, she would have been 98 if still alive. Her brother who was 2 years younger has also passed away & his record is still closed. The next two younger brothers who are still alive at 90 & 83 both their records are open.
I have come across quite a few other members of my family who are still alive & children at the time, have their records open & been very pleased to have a copy of the record. I dare say this has happened in a lot of cases.

Thanks John for sharing that info with us all. Just one thing I don't quite understand, if you cancelled your automatic renewal & then made a new purchase as they suggest wouldn't you lose the 15% discount?

Thanks for that info Gadget, that's worth knowing  :)

My very thoughts Louisa Maud. FindMyPast are already hiking their prices up by withdrawing the cheaper subscriptions.

I can now view the world records too  ;D Thanks everyone for your helpful impute. The jury is out for me whether I renew my subscription, it will all depend on the price at the time. I think they should offer all of us who have been subscribing for years a discount for the inconvenience, as quite a lot of people will have to pay for world records they don't want  :(
