Durham Lookup Requests / Jones Rayne White Grave Grisdale

I am trying to find more about the above named man. He was from Durham and was a Surgeon in India with the 4th Native Infantry. He died in Madras in 1807.

He seems to have been born in Sunderland Durham on 7 Nov 1777 with parents John Grisdale and Jane. A sister was probably Mary Grisdale born Sunderland Durham 17 Oct 1799 with parents John Grisdale and Jane Jillians.

Jones married Jane Robinson at St Nichols Durham on 8 dec 1804.

Obviously his line goes back eventually to Matterdale Cumberland but I'd like to try to find more about his family particularly regarding his full name. I know names such as Rayne and maybe even White and Grave as well appear in Durham, but can anyone help figuring out the connections?

Also I can't find a Jane Jillians anywhere?

I'd like to find who Captain William Grisdale was? Maybe from the records of the Muscovy Company in the Guildhall Library? He's probably from Cumberland and maybe from Whitehaven?

Where and when did he die?
Does the 1901 Census really say he was with the "Ontario Police"?

Any trace of Gideon Snr in 1871?

US Lookup Requests / "Doctor" and Mary Grisdale 1870

I am trying to discover the whereabouts of Doctor Grisdale b 1809 (his real name) and Mary his wife b 1819 in 1870. They emigrated with their children from Bolton in England to the US in 1850 and are to be found in Pennsylvania in 1850 and 1860. Before 1880 Doctor Grisdale has died. Mary Grisdale is by then living in Roseburg Oregon. But no trace of either in 1870?

I believe there are still Grisdales living in this area, descendants of Wilfred Grisdale the grandson of the Wilfred who arrived in North Monaghan Ontario in 1816/17. See:
