Was going to suggest that you try and narrow your time frame by his childrens  marriages or even deaths (if any died before Charles). Marriage announcements for his children or even death announcements for his siblings in newspapers may also state if Charles was deceased at the time. Certificates ofcourse could always be a keepsake for your family tree anyway.

Hi Mel

Unfortunately the Charles Ammondeen Probate at Kingswood does not seem like your man as he is listed as Bachelor and leaves his entire estate of 2,697 pounds to widow Ada West who is also the executrix of his will as published in SMH. As no assets were distributed to anyone else, there was no mention of any next of kin, parents, siblings etc no birthplace and no death certificate (which is sometimes included in probate records), although you already have his death certificate.

I guess the search continues for the mysterious Charles Deen....

Have you tried LDS Family History Research Centres for birth records and marriage/death records of his parents? which have eluded you so far. The LDS history centres are free to use but you should enquire if one near you has India Records. In NSW, Parramatta LDS History Centre has a large collection of India Record Indexes. Many, many, many more records than are available on FIBIS or FindMyPast or Familysearch, as they are being slowly processed by volunteers. It is a slow process of looking up microfilm and then ordering the relevant microfilm reel for the births/deaths/marriages which cost $7.50 to cover postage of the reel to your local LDS Centre for viewing and obtaining a copy. Your local LDS Family History Centre might be able to advise which centres in your area specialise in India Records or contact Parramatta LDS Family History (02) 9683-5849

Cheers  :)

Hi Rosjan
Attached is the Teachers Roll from State Archives at Kingswood.
William Brown married Miss Ethel J. Ellis on 16/1/1900. If this is your line then I would suggest further research, as Kingswood holds a lot of information on teachers eg “Teacher Application”, “Exam Results” and even “ Administration Files” containing correspondence, just to name a few.

Good Luck with your research
Cheers :)

Hi LNS

According to the Ships Log it appears that the "Washington Irving" left on the 4th Jan 1855 bound for Sydney.

This is from the Mariners and ships in Australian Waters -WASHINGTON IRVING FROM THE PORT OF LONDON TO SYDNEY, NEW SOUTH WALES, Arrived 14TH APRIL, 1855

Australia / Re: Needing Help with the origins of Thomas WARREN
« on: Saturday 01 September 12 12:06 BST (UK)  »
NSW State Library has Victoria Police Gazette (on microfiche for this period), but without a page reference it is quite challenging as there is no ‘search’ option on microfiche.

Attached are two references on page 203, 31 Aug 1855. Thomas Warren shown in “List of Persons discharged from Darlinghurst Goal during the week ending 23rd July” (left hand column middle of page No 32). Elizabeth Warren (bottom right hand column of page) “A warrant has been issued”.

I am sure fellow rootchatters can find other references in the Victoria Police Gazette or Bendigo Advertiser eg Jan 1860 when Thomas Warren is charged with shooting Elizabeth.

Unfortunately NSW State Library does not have Bendigo Advertiser for 1860. Hopefully generous rootchatters will be kind enough to look up Bendigo Advertiser - Mon 30th 1860; Tues 7th Feb 1860; Tues 14th Feb 1860; Thu 1st Mar 1860 Jan (not on Trove yet) which may provide more details.

Court records (if they have survived) may be at the Victoria State Archives or Supreme Court of Victoria which handle criminal convictions.

Cheers :)
