Does any one know the exact location of the New Inn of Cap Coch fame by the dipping bridge in Bridgend, or whether the inn and it's infamous keeper ever existed at all?

The Common Room / Names recorded surname first
« on: Tuesday 30 May 06 20:32 BST (UK)  »
Is it possible that individuals were recorded on C19 censuses, parish records etc with their surname first and first name second. e.g could a David Williams end up as William Davies.

Could their second name becomes the surname e.g. William David Williams becoming William Davies?

The Common Room / wife's maiden name on census return

Is it possible that in the earlier censuses e.g. 1841 and 1851, the wife's maiden name was mistakenly used as the family  surname.

Has anyone compiled a list or CD of all pre 1837 Breckonshire marriages?  I'm looking for a David Watkins born Ilston, Glamorgan who married a Hannah Williams (also born Glamorgan) circa 1830.

Any one related to a Joseph Davies, Cellan parish, Cardigan.
He was my great, great, great, grandfather.  His daughter, Mary married John Williams (mason, from Conwyl Caeo) in Cellan church in 1829.
