You may wish to contact Malahide Historical Society:

http://www.malahideheritage.com/index.htm

They might be able to point you in the right direction of perhaps some of their newsletters may contain something on the coastguards in Malahide.

Good luck.

I wonder if this is your Blossom Mayon:  http://clondalkin.dublindiocese.ie/17dec06.htm
 - It is a parish newsletter from Immaculate Conception Church in Clondalkin, Dublin advising of the death of :  "DEATHS .... We extend our deepest sympathy to the families and friends of: Patricia (Blossom) Mayon, James Connolly Park ... recently deceased.  May they rest in peace."  There is an email address you could contact the church on and they may be able to pass on your contact details to family of Blossom..

Good luck and best wishes for your father.. Best wishes. Karen

PS - I've found 1 'Mayon' in the Eircom phone  book for Dublin - I've pm'd it to you.

Meath / Re: Sheridan - St Mary's Drogheda
« on: Friday 03 August 07 22:38 BST (UK)  »
The Glenside Hotel is actually in county Meath... but is minutes away from border of county Louth... in parts, houses on one side of the road are County Meath and on the other side County Louth!..These days Drogheda is definately in County Louth....

John Sheridan could have been born near St Marys Church http://ireland.archiseek.com/buildings_ireland/louth/drogheda/st_marys_rc.html...which today is in County Louth.. but I have seen it been said to be in County Meath before.. seems to have been a bit of a grey area years ago...  Contact details for St Marys Church (will be able to advise where you can access records etc):

St. Mary's Presbytery
Dublin Road.
Tel: +353 41 9834958
Fax +353 41 9845144

St. Mary's Parish Centre/Office
24 James St.
Tel: +353 41 9834587
Tel: +353 41 9838347

I don't know the history of St Marys Hospital, nowadays its a hospital for the elderly.  You may wish to contact them - maybe John Sheridan was born here..:

St Mary's Hospital

Dublin Road
Drogheda
Co Louth
Telephone:   +353 41 9838680
Fax:   +353 41 9844970

Another idea would be that he was born near a historical bridge named St Marys http://louth.goireland.com/scripts/low/xq/asp/areaid.186/areatype.C/cat.9/SubjectID.155/PremisesID.11896/qx/premises.htm .. these three places are all within walking distancy ... so perhaps the whole area at the time was known as St Marys....

Have no idea if this helps at all..Kind regards, Karen

http://www.millmount.net/default.asp# - click on 'old drogheda society'.....

They may be able to help you as your ancestor was a former Mayor/local Merchant.

Best of luck and kind regards, Karen

Meath / Re: RC church at Skryne, Co Meath
« on: Friday 22 June 07 16:53 BST (UK)  »
Hello Peggy

The only church in Skryne is called Skreen Church .. its a ruin but there are old gravestones ... its is kept quite well ...

Another RC Church very close to Skryne (and is use) is:

Saint Columcille Churchyard, Skryne, Tara, County Meath, Ireland

Its address is actually in Tara ... but its a 'field' over from Skryne!!  Some of my relatives were from Skryne and were buried in this churchyard ....checkout:  http://www.interment.net/data/ireland/meath/columcille/index.htm - lists some of the burials...

I've visited Rathfeigh Church also - there's an old ruin with lots of old graves together with another church that is in use... some of the burials are listed:  http://www.interment.net/data/ireland/meath/immaculate_rath/index.htm.

Hope this helps a little.  Kind regards, Karen :)
