Norfolk / Fishing Boat Tradgedy-Kings Lynn Memorial
« on: Sunday 31 July 05 09:44 BST (UK)  »
Hello Everyone
On the 19 Nov 1875 five fishing boats from Fife were lost in a storm having left Great Yarmouth for Fife in a break in the storm .I have several relations who were lost on these boats. I have seen a reference to a memorial to this event in Kings Lynn .Does anyone know where this memorial is ? Could someone also suggest which local newsparers might have carried reports of the event.

Hello cf and Angelfish
My wifes grandparents are buried in Heaton Cemetery .She got details of the grave site from Newcastle upon Tyne Bereavement Services their web site is
Her grandparents did not have a headstone but they had someone meet her at the cemetery and show her the grave. They should be able to tell you if there is a headstone on the grave .
I am hoping to have a weeks holiday some time next month and will hopefully be going there to find some other of her relatives . If you find there is a headstone the cemetry is divided into sections there is a map at the gate showing where each section is ,if you can let me know the name ,date of death ,and which section it is in I willtry to find it and pass on the details

I believe Alfred-Alastair GILMOUR may be a cousin of my grandmother Isabella Latto GILMOUR .I only discovered that her father William GILMOUR had a brother James Parker GILMOUR born 23 Jun 1861 in Monifieth ,Angus ,Scotland to Thomas GILMOUR and Jane or Jean Movise BIRRELL married 28 Nov 1851 Anstruther Wester . Their first child was born in Anstruther in 1852 then the next 5 in Monifieth Angus between 1854 and 1863 then two more were born in Anstruther
I can give you more details if you think this is the James Parker GILMOUR you mentioned
