There is a llanarmon-yn-iāl community Facebook group and someone has just posted aerial photos of the quarry dated 1952.

It's also a great place to ask as many locals are on there.

Oh my word what a lovely surprise and a lovely offer.

I would absolutely love to see copies of any family photos that you have. I don't have much from that side of my family.

I wondered around Nercwys church yard last year and spotted the grave of George and Maria. I didn't know it was there so that was a shock.

I spotted someone died young in a colliery accident, but I couldn't find anything in online newspapers. It must have been awful with him being so young.

Thank you

Pam

Thanks both, I think I'm going to have to order their marriage certificate to be certain.

There's several trees on ancestry with this marriage but no concrete sources. Two have copied info from my own tree which was incorrect (due to auto correct on my part).

But thank you for your time.

Sussex Lookup Requests / Sarah Griffiths
« on: Friday 17 April 20 17:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone could please find the details for a marriage for Sarah Griffiths and Alfred Alphaeus Bower in Ticehurst in 1932

I'm hoping for any information to show she is my ancestor, if it's the same person Sarah was born 1906 in Nerquis or Nercwys, Flintshire North Wales to George Griffiths and Maria

Other people have her in their trees as married to Alfred but I can't see any source info that shows it for certain.

I've no idea how or why she would have ended up in Sussex and its not an uncommon name in Wales.

Any help is gratefully received.

Thank you in advance

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help with finding the birth details for

Robert William James
Born 12th March 1902
Bedwellty, Aberystwyth

I'm looking to find out who his parents are.

Super interesting as I know we are related to him but not sure exactly how and after popping a post on a group on Facebook I'm in touch with his grandson who had these details but not the full birth certificate.

Did Doris marry Owen Richard Evans / Richard Owen Evans?

If so, there is a 1939 document.    ( showing birth 28/2/04 )
2 lines redacted so could be 2x children?

Ray

Thanks Ray,

Yes she did marry Owen Richard Evans and they had 2 daughters, one being my Grandmother.

I hadn't seen the 1939 record so thank you very much for that.

The Gardner name is not your family but a birth registered the following year.

Brilliant, I was just looking at the dates for that then and thought the same.

Thank you

Fantastic, thank you so much.

It's been a bit of a laugh in our family that my mum named me after her but got her name wrong  :D

Turns out my mum misheard and called me Louise not Louisa but she was right.

The gardner name has thrown me a little though. Not heard of that name at all, will keep an eye on that.

Thank you all

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / Doris Jones birth name
« on: Sunday 19 January 20 10:33 GMT (UK)  »
I'm looking for confirmation of the name of Doris Jones born 28 February 1904 in Bedwas.

Her father was
George Jones and her Mother was Ann Arabella James.

My query is related to if she had the middle name of Louisa?

I've just seen her name with this middle name listed in someone else's tree on ancestry but they had no supporting documentation attached.

She is my great grand mother and my mum grew up thinking her name was Louise because she heard her grandfather call her that, hence why my middle name Is Louise.

I've not found anything online to support this and after her death my mother mentioned it to her mum (daughter of Doris) as she obviously had a funeral for Doris and not Louise as my mum thought her name was. My grandmother didn't know what my mum was talking about.

Louisa looks to be a family name, but this person's tree has got me curious.

Many thanks in advance
