Yorkshire (West Riding) / BLANCHE WRIGHT, 1859 - 1938
« on: Sunday 16 January 22 10:07 GMT (UK)  »
Blanche Stradling was born the second quarter of 1859 in Wellington, Somerset. On 1st October 1888 she married James Broscombe, spelt Broscomes in some records in Bradford. Thy had 1 child John William Broscombe, my grandad. James died in 1910.
During the 3rd quarter 1915 Blanche married Robert  Stephen Wright, 1868 - 1934. According to my records Blanche died during the second quarter of 1938.
However the 1921 census shows Robert living in Young Street, Bradford with his wife Blanche, born in 1862 in Devon. I cannot find another marriage for Robert but there is a possible death for Blanche in 1916.
Is there anybody who knows about the Wright family who can tell me if my death record is correct or not and if the 1921 census record for Blanche is another women or just an incorrect entry.
Thank you

New Zealand Completed Requests / SHEPHERD FAMILY FROM ENGLAND
« on: Tuesday 29 September 20 11:11 BST (UK)  »
During the latter part of 1908, Arthur Shepherd, his wife Emma, formerly called Varley, and their daughter Ruth Annie, sailed on the Cornwall arriving in Auckland on 9th January. They started a new life in Arero, Bay of Plenty.
I believe Ruth Annie married Harold Membrey Thomas during 1927, but am not certain of this. Harold was another Englishman who had emigrated to New Zealand. I have been told they had a daughter (*) , but I have no details for her. She most likely was born in Arero as Arthur and Emma were still there in 1928.
I am hoping somebody can fill in the details of her (*) daughter's life so I can complete the family history.
Thank you

Following the suggestion Of John Varley of 1893, I looked carefully at the records and determined he was a very good possibility. So I purchased his birth certificate  and he is the one I was looking for. He was born on Christmas day, so lived less than a week. The youngest of the previous 9, Agnes lived to be 105, so you can never tell how long a life can be.

Igor Strav,
John is a possibility, but is the mother " Shaw " on the birth record Ruth Shaw?

All 9 of the children were born in the district of Bradford, however, during the 1890's that part of Bradford changed its district to North Bierley, which lasted well into the next century

Samuel Varley married Ruth Shaw in 1873, and lived their married life in Wilsden. According to the family Bible, between 1873 and 1890, there were 9 children, of which only Reuben had died by the time of 1911 Census. However the original of 1911 census for those still living at home in West View Cottage, Wilsden and signed by Ruth, shows total number of children born as 10, 8 still living and 2 who have died.
Can anybody say for certain if there was a 10th and who this might be
Thank you
