London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / I've gone and done it again....
« on: Thursday 14 September 06 16:10 BST (UK)  »
Again I've written something down and now can't for the life of me find it  :-[
Please please can someone help me?!

I have written down for the 1901 census: William Wood, living with his wife Caroline and son Ernest in St Paul Covent Garden.

Details are:
William Wood, born c.1842, Tiverton, Devon
Caroline Wood, born c.1834, Wembdon, Somerset
Ernest Wood, Born c.1877, Colnbrook, Bucks

All the dates of birth need at least +/- 2 years I think.

Thank you so much

The Common Room / A really stupid question
« on: Tuesday 12 September 06 17:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

This is a really stupid question and probably one that I should have sorted out a long time ago, but here goes:

I have James Loveday, christened in Elmdon on 09/12/1798. His parents are James and Mary. There is a marriage of James Loveday and Mary Gates, 23/10/1794 in Elmdon and so I believe they are his parents.

I've looked through the christening records and can't see one in Elmdon for James Loveday (senior). What is the best thing to do now to find him???

I'd be very grateful for and thoughts.

Thanks very much in advance :)

Can some lovely person find it again for me so I have the page ref?

Thank you so much!

Devon / What happened to William WOOD??
« on: Sunday 03 September 06 12:29 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I'd appreciate some thoughts on where to look next. i'm looking for William T Wood. I see two possible birth registrations for him: Mar 1867 and Mar 1869, Tiverton, Devon. Census returns seem to indicate the former but am unwilling to trust them too much seeing as there are two entries so close together.

I see William with his mother in Wembdon in the 1871 census and with the whole family in 1881 in Langley Marish. After that he kind of vanishes. I can't see him in 1891 or 1901  :-\
I suppose he could have died but I can't find anthing likely in Surrey or Bucks (in 1881 they are in Bucks and in Surrey in 1891 - but who knows where they were in between???)

thanks for reading all that
