It could be possible that mary remarried! it would explain why i can't find the marriage i am looking for, thanks for the idea!

I had found a christening for ellen Horsefall for the right time and her mother was Mary so it all seemed to fit till I looked for ellens marriage.

Any more advice gratefully recieved!

Thanks for your help! Ellens' surname must be Horsfall as on the 1871 census when the shaws were living in midgley, there is a mary horsfall - mother in law. The earliest i have them is 1851 living in ovenden.

My relatives - William Armitage and Betty Hirst were married on 7th Aug 1815 at St. Peters parish church, Huddersfield. I am interested in finding the names of their fathers and any other info the record might give,
