Thanks Rosie and Paco.    Paco, I will have to see what has happened re Caroline, if she's not Thomas and sarah's child, then will have to do some more research.   If you find any news on Caroline's parents, would be grateful.

Cheers - Sparham  ???

Essex / THOMAS MARSHALL
« on: Saturday 02 November 13 18:53 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all, hope the bad wind on Monday did not affect you too much.

I am trying to find a link between Thomas Marshall born 1771 in Rayleigh Essex and Thomas Marshall born 1801 in Billericay.     Thomas Marshall Jnr died in 1875.    I have a gut feeling that Thomas Jnr was the son of Thomas Snr.

Caroline Marshall was my Dad's grandmother.  Her husband being Richard Fryatt.

My Dad and and his brother Geoff was taken in by Edgar Marshall and hi wife Flo.  Their father was the son of Richard and Caroline, Ernest.

Edgar comes from Thomas Snr's line and Caroline from Thomas Jnr's line.

I would be so grateful if anyone could help me marry the two lines up.

Warm Regards

One Name Studies: A to G / Re: ANDRE - All dates

Hi,

i am descended from Jean Baptiste Andre, who was from Champagney France (in Haute Soane, near Belfort).  He was possibly not born in Champagney, but was definitely married there in 1752 and died there in 1804. Although both his marriage record and death records state that he was born in Champagney about 1722, I have not been able to locate him (or any other ANDRE) in Champagney before he showed up there and got married.  In general, the church records in that village are quite complete starting  in the 1690s, so it is rather mysterious as to his origin.
In 1906 my grandfather Eugene Emile Andre immigrated to New York, and eventually moved to Chicago.

Kind regards,

Chas Andre

Hi Chas, my branch of Andres are from Germany (via France).  My 5  xGreat Grandfather was Johanne Andre, Huguenot and composer.   He was a friend of Goethe's.

Their daughter, my 3  x Gt Grandmother Julia Widder Mills seems to remember Major John Andre (he spied for the British in the American Revolutionary War, was executed and his body now lies in Westminster visiting the household, but said he was a distant relative.

Warm Regards

John Brett Jun was married to Dille Marata Jeffes in 1756 in Bardwell.  His father is John Brett.  This is all the info I have.   John Jun was born in Bardwell.   Would be interested to hear from anyone who has any info on the two Johns and their offspring and spouses.

Many thanks

An educated guess but I think that John Brett's wife, Dille Marata Jeffes is the sister  of John Jeffes, the father of my 4 x Gt Grandmother Dille Marata Jeffes.  I am scouring through other sources to see if I can find out more about John Brett.  Would be grateful for some help though  ;D

Many thanks, Sparham

Trish, this is interesting.   I am wondering if Dille Marata Jeffes who died in 1788 was John's sister.  More to work on  :o

Thank you all so much for your info.   I must look at Dille Marata Jeffes buried 1778 - she is definitely a relative as my 4 x Great Grandmother was named after her.  It could be her mother.  If anyone can help me find her maiden name, I would be so grateful.

Hi

I am yet again turning to your wonderful site as I have a few  ??? lol

My 4 x Great Grandmother Dille was born abt 1765 in Bardwell Suffolk.  Her father was John Jeffes born in Sapiston.  Unfortunately I do not have any more information on him.  I am looking for more info on John and his wife and any siblings that Dille may have.I see with great interest in "Suffolk Stray Marriages" that a Susan Jeffes of Sapiston married a Henry Norton Palmer of Old Buckenham on 29th Sept 1836 and I wonder if Susan is a relation somewhere down the line.

I am trying to trace the Spanish background of my 4 x Great Grandmother.  Family lore has always maintained that there was a "Spanish Woman" on the tree.   There was an oil painting of her but unfortunately the relative I tried to contact about this had moved.

I would be so grateful if you could help me once again.

Dille died on 29th August 1842 at Sapiston.

Warm Regards
Sparham
