That's interesting. Any idea what the "or Jersey" bit means? Not come across that before.

HeatherJulie,
Many thanks given the names involved this is a strong candidate. I hadn't picked this record up previously, possibly due to spelling! I will certainly be checking Knutsford christenings for a William and a Susannah/Susan now.

I have a strong suspicion that this Elijahs father, Thomas Hassall was a brother of my Susannah Hassall

Hi Heather
I believe so yes. I think this Eli/Elijah was a cousin/Uncle to my direct ancestors Susannah Hassall and her son John Hassall. I think the witness William Hassall is also a relation.
Due to the 5 illegitimate children Susannah Hassall had from 1804-1815 I realise its going to be extremely tricky to work out any connection to other Hassall family members. The fact she called her children John, Elijah William Nanny & Eliza and all these names recur in the next 2 generations of definitely confirmed family is a strong indicator of some family connection.
Thanks again
Jason

Apologies I wasn't looking for information to be duplicated. I have the details of this family/families going forward from the 1820s to the present day.
What I am searching for is some connection linking Susanna Hassall b1780 with Thomas Hassall b1797 Elijah/Eli b1826 & William Hassall b1828 all in the Stalybridge/Ashton areas? A complicating factor (esp on 1841 Census) was that part of Stalybridge was Lancashire and part in Cheshire!!
Many thanks in advance and sincere apologies for any duplication.

Hi all
Wonder if anyone can help find a connection between a number of Hassall's who I strongly suspect were siblings? They are resident in Ashton-under-Lyne/Stalybridge/Dukinfield around 1790 onwards. The names are Thomas Hassall b1797, Susan/Susannah Hassall b~1780s, Eli/Elijah Hassall and William Hassall?
Any connections from around 1780-1800 would be most welcome.
Regards and thanks in advance
Jason

Because a house in  Stalybridge which remained in the family until 1962 when it was demolished is listed as belonging to a Thomas & William Hassall in the Voters List 1853-4-5.

Hi Rosie

Yes sorry I typed the marriage date incorrectly as 1835. It is the same marriage as listed in original post.
It is Susannah Hassall's parents/siblings I am looking for

Hello all,

Hope you are all having a good Christmas build-up? I am trying to find out about the above person.
I believe Susan/Susannah Hassall was my paternal 4x GreatGrandmother. I believe she was born in 1780/1 either in Cheshire or Lancashire. She went on to have at least 5 children illegitimiately who were all baptised at St Michaels Church, Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancs between 1803-1815. In all these records SusanSusannah Hassall is listed as residing in Stayley (Stalybridge, Cheshire).
Susannah Hassall went on to marry a Joseph Wilkinson in Stalybridge in 1835. On the 1841 Census they were living in Bohemia, Stalybridge with Josephs 2 grown up sons from a previous relationship.
Susannah Wilkinson (nee Hassall) dies in Stalybridge in 1845.
I would like any help anyone can offer in finding Susannahs birth, parents and any possible siblings. If it helps I think she may have had siblings, uncles and/or cousins called Thomas Hassall and William Hassall.

Many thanks in advance. Regards

Jason
