Thanks very much Mo I really appreciate your help.

Cumberland Lookup Requests / Esther Taylor b. circa 1760
« on: Sunday 22 July 07 05:12 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for the birth an an Esther Taylor around 1760 in the Cumberland area.  I have confirmation that she was living in Etterby in 1790.  She was then Mrs Esther Hare.

If anyone has access to Parish records in or around the Etterby area, I would be very grateful for a lookup.
Thank you

Lincolnshire / Re: SUMMERS & TAYLOR in Lincoln area
« on: Saturday 10 June 06 04:38 BST (UK)  »
Hello Kerry

I'm afraid I know very little about my Taylor family apart from my 3rd Gt Grandmother Esther Taylor. She was born around 1765 and according to a will had brothers George & John.  She could also have had sisters Rebecca and Ann.

She has become a complete mystery, I don't even know her parents names, very frustrating.  I have looked everywhere for her birth to no avail.

If you recognise any of these names, I would love to hear from you.

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / 1851 Census - Chertsey help please
« on: Saturday 13 May 06 07:25 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for the Piece/Folio No: of an address in the 1851 Census.  I cannot locate it by name as the owners name may have changed.

The name of the residence is Fan Grove Lodge, Chertsey which is located on Trys Hill in the area of Lyne. It is a farm and next door to a Fan Court farm.

Any help would be appreciated.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: 1841 ECCLES census - HOLT lookup please
« on: Wednesday 26 April 06 08:31 BST (UK)  »
Hi Richard

Thank you very much for your reply.  I'm afraid all I know about James Holt Snr is on his son James marriage certificate in 1840 in Liverpool, on which it states his occupation as Servant.

I have searched the Eccles Parish records and found James Holt Jnr baptised 1815 son of James & Frances Holt.  I then found further siblings Ellen, Ann, Frances, Charlotte & Caroline all born to a James and Frances.  I can only assume it is my 2nd Gt Grandfather and siblings, as I have no other record of the mother's name.

The first child was born 1805 which probably would make James Snr born abt. 1780-85. His occupations in the parish records vary from labourer, coachman and farmer. His son James was also described as coachman in 1851 census.

I don't know if the parents would have been alive in 1841, I suppose even having his name on his son's marriage wouldn't guarantee that he was alive at the time.

Sorry I can't be more help on this.
Kind regards
Lybis

Lincolnshire Completed Look up Requests / Re: Crowle Parish Registers
« on: Tuesday 25 April 06 04:45 BST (UK)  »
Hi John

Thank you for your help.  You have certainly given me something to digest.

The information about Esther Summers marrying Sir Cecil Wray is correct. They lived in Fillingham Castle (Summer Castle) which he built for his wife.  My 3rd Gt Grandmother Esther Taylor joined them there after the death of her husband Charles Hare in 1801, she remained there for many years.

Esther (Summers) Wray died in 1825 naming Esther (Taylor) Hare in her will and stating she was a widow in Lincoln.  Esther Wray also names a sister Elizabeth Thoroughgood and nephews George & John Taylor living in Essex.

According to an LDS member Esther Summer's father is James Summers, but I have no way of knowing if that is correct.

Appreciate all you have done John, I will certainly give all you have given me much thought and let you know how I get on.
