Hi Carol.
        If it is phonetic (sounds like.....) Then perhaps the place you seek is;
Sileshaun, Sillahertane, Sillehine or Silverspring.
        Silkstone is in no references I have. except for the one Jap told you about in Yorkshire.
    Good luck.

hi Carol80.
       Have two replays one from someone on Pitcairn Island stating  there current supply ship is the Polar Stream from NZ. You can check the internet on Google( supply ship polar stream.) If you can find a contact they may know who supplied Pitcairn Island in 1940-1950,you never know!
       I also have another e-mail from Pitcairn Island but the message was not sent the subject was "lost at Sea", have advised and requested new e-mail.
          Regards.

Hi Carol88.
    Have had no real responce from the two article's I placed, the most senable answer at this stage is " I cannot assist you without  spending time at the libraries  on the subject of Pitcairn Island. I suggest you  contact the Mitchell Library, Macquarie Street, Sydney."
     Looks like the answer at this stage, but don't give up I still could get an answer.
