Census and Resource Discussion / findmypast: public trees
« on: Monday 30 June 14 02:42 BST (UK)  »
Just took advantage of the $1/month offer at findmypast

I can see how to search on 'all records' or BMD, Census, Church etc... but  I cant see how to search on any public trees that may have shared ancestors..
I'm very familiar with ancestry.co.uk.. and it shows be hits from other trees

So how do i do this at FindMyPast ??

Hertfordshire / Re: Emigration to Canada pre WW1 ?

No more to the question that meets the eye.
Thankyou for your informative response..
I simply did not have that knowledge that emigration by one member of the family was a common practice at that time.
Forgive my ignorance ..

Thanks again

Cap badge aside,  The Leather bandolier, white? lanyard, oval of leather on riding boots, spurs would
infer RFA      refer :  http://www.photodetective.co.uk/RArtillery.html

Is it possible he was with ASC but worked so closely with the RFA that he took their uniform except for cap badge ??

The man we believe the picture is of of served in the Army Service Corps in WW1 and from his service record was involved in Horse transport.

Could this be him? My very limited knowledge/research of the uniform suggests Royal Field Artillery.

Could some kind person visiting the Carlisle Library on Globe Lane please lookup the microfiche article relating to Deer Park Mansion in Etterby,Stanwix
There was an article in the Cumberland News ( details below)

Cumberland news  date 24.08.2007
p36 History and photo of house - Denis Perriam. Photo taken in 1971 shows the house in the background but it did not remain much longer

My father was evacuated there in WW11 but he remembers very little. I am hoping a picture and some details may jog his memory.

Many Thanks :)
