Object in going to Canada :- "to settle" - going to join Miss N Denny, Queen Margaret's School. Duncan. British Columbia. Father listed as F Cottrill. High View House, Belmont Road, Bolton. Lancs.
UK and Ireland, Outward Passenger Lists, 1890-1960 - should have departed 4 th May 1923 - Megantic to Montreal. Canada. (crossed thru on passenger manifest - must have gone slightly later - as per above.)
Both Henry (aged 61 years)and Sybil Thorne (aged 40 years) return from South Africa 1 st August 1934 -
Sybil Cottrill had immigrated to South Africa as a teacher 15 January 1932 - Southampton to Cape Town on the Armadale Castle

Very interesting indeed. I hadn’t been aware of Sybil who obviously didn’t pursue a career in the family business and forged a career as a teacher overseas. Unlike the rest of her family there isn’t a baptism record as far as I can see and no trace so far on the 1901 census. Perhaps she was with another household or away at private school. Thanks again for your assistance which is most appreciated. I visited the ‘High View’ address today which still stands and is a grand building… Jayhen
