Fermanagh / Re: Hughes/Magee - Sheridan, Fermanagh
« on: Wednesday 28 December 22 09:20 GMT (UK)  »

They had six children between 1865 and 1876 and I can find no trace of them after birth.

Anyone any ideas please?

Thank you, this ties in with my tree - these Hughes' are my wife's great grandparents!

Daughter Teresa Hughes (born 15 January 1865 at Sheridan) married Thomas Hughes on 20 February 1887 at Whitehill RC Church. One of the witnesses was probably her sister Minnie (Mary) Hughes.

Daughter Mary Hughes (born 26 March 1869) married John Starrs on 24 February 1889 at Whitehill RC Church.

found a probable marriage 11th February 1861 Kilskeery RC Tyrone, groom's surname transcribed as Aughes, image look like Hughes to me. Since it's an early RC marriage there's not much detail, just date, bride and groom and witnesses. Given the date I think there could be further children ..

No sign of any Hughes or McGee present at Sheridan on the 1901 census

Thank you do much for this, I'm sure it was not an easy thing to find.

Trying to locate a Michael Hughes b. 1834-1886 who married Rose Magee. I know nothing about Rose other than one of her children's births was registered by Susan Magee. They had six children between 1865 and 1876 and I can find no trace of them after birth.

Anyone any ideas please?

There was a lot of migration at that time. They could have gone to England, Scotland or USA & Canada. Did you find Michael & Sarah on the census records?

I just discovered yesterday this was no our Michel, sorry

Yes, indeed he did. They married in Whitehill, I think, from memory.

Patrick Hughes and Elizabeth Brady lived in Aghaloo, Auchnacloy and had children Thomas b. 1862/Henry b. 1865/Patrick b. 1866/Mary Jane b. 1858 and Michael who was their first born and I couldn’t find his birth. I can find no trace of any of these children. At some point the Hughes family moved to Dromore, Co. Tyrone but I cannot find them there either.

All I have is that Michael married Sarah Conlon and Mary Jane married, but I don’t know who. My wife’s family came from the children of Thomas Hughes, who could possibly have been the only family member who settled in Dromore. I really don’t know where the others went.

I guess I didn't think that one through. I meant to say that if anyone knew of him, heard his name being mentioned or any possible knowledge.....

I met his cousin Jessie Frazer Donnelly in that same house. She had just come out of hospital a few years back and she was too unwell to speak. Sadly, she passed away soon after.

Carol, he was born
Alan James Campbell Cameron 17th Aug 1921 (Drogheda)

It is believed that his parents may have separated and Alan was brought up by an aunt (Rosina Donnelly) and lived at 7, Aberfoyle Terrace, Derry. We believe he lived there from the age of 6yrs approx.

It is also a mystery as to where his parents ended up.
