Dublin / Edward Behan
« on: Saturday 05 May 18 06:51 BST (UK)  »
Edward Behan married Ellen Douch in St. Kevins Church, Dublin in 1918. He had been previously married to Anne McCormack. I cannot find either of them in the Irish Census in 1901/11 however Ellens details show similarities in the 1911 English census as her father was Alfred and I have found an Alfred with daughter Ellen that is a possibility. There may be a military connection as the marriage certificate dated 1875 of Ellen, her father was recorded as a soldier. A similar Alfred Douch married an Ellen McInnerney in Dublin and he was attached to Richmond Barracks and he was a soldier.

I cannot find any thing definite of the Behans and where they lived as there are so many of them, but no leads. Edwards father was Patrick.

Monaghan / Devine - Omagh and Clones
« on: Thursday 29 March 18 06:44 BST (UK)  »
I posted this in the Fermanagh Forum as it was relevant at the time........

When Patrick Devines wife Ellen (nee McGartland) died in 1904 he moved to Dromore, Co. Tyrone and then by 1911 Roslea, Co. Fermanagh - http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Fermanagh/Rosslea/Tattinbarr/514252/

He had eight children so you would imagine that some of them could be picked up in some sort of records somewhere, not so.

The Fermanagh death records haven't been transcribed by IrishWorld - are there any other ways of finding marriages/deaths in the area?

His children were Margaret, Mary, Francis, Catherine, Mary-Ann, Patrick, Rosanna, Agnes, James Leo all born between 1889 and 1902 - mostly born in Omagh.

The family featured in the 1901 census in Omagh.

This morning I find that this family settled in Clones on the Rosslea Road.
Francis married Sarah O'Neill and Mary Ellen married Patrick Smyth

Perhaps it rings a few bells.......

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Charles McQuaid and Eva Benton, Lupset
« on: Friday 02 March 18 13:36 GMT (UK)  »
Charles McQuaid married widower Eva Benton in 1960, she was previously married to George Hargreaves and they lived at 192, Waterton Road, Lupset.

I was love to know if any of the children from Eva's first marriage still live there.

Tyrone / McQuaid - Dromore/Trillick
« on: Tuesday 20 February 18 17:53 GMT (UK)  »
Charles McQuaid b. 1884 in Tullynichrin, Trillick, Tyrone married Susan Toland in Dromore on 15th Aug 1911. Charles' father was James and mother Sarah Jane Maguire. I cannot find any census records for these people, though there is a pretty close listing under Camus, Strabane area. I don't know what would taken them there, if it is them at all but I'd still love a few leads here, especially on his father and mother - James and Sarah Jane.

Dublin / James Campbell Cameron
« on: Thursday 15 February 18 20:36 GMT (UK)  »
When James Campbell Cameron married in 1916 his address was given as 47, Capel Street, Dublin. He was born in Glasgow in 1886 and I have a funny  feeling he served as a soldier in the city during the period of unrest. He is in neither 1901 or 1911 census that I can find so I am assuming he arrived post census. His life has been a real mystery as has he disappearance several years after he married. Are their military records available on line that may show him up.

Dublin / Patrick Rock - Trinity College 1920s
« on: Friday 09 February 18 16:26 GMT (UK)  »
My wifes great uncle Patrick Rock studied at Trinity in the 1920s and went on to be a consultant ENT in Derry. He met his wife-to-be, Moya Cameron in Dublin and they lived in Bayview Terrace, Derry. However, I'm hoping that there are other people who may have befriended him or knew of him. He would have spent some of his time in the Dolphins Barn area of the city as he would have frequented the home of his wife adoptive parents Patrick Green, then manager of the Dolphin Barn Brickworks. It may seem like a wild shot but worth asking.

Tyrone / Devine/McGartland
« on: Friday 05 January 18 17:09 GMT (UK)  »
Patrick Devine, his wife Ellen (Nee McGartland) were children were living on the Kevlin Road in Omagh http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Tyrone/Omagh_Town/Kevlin_Road/1747224/
In the 1911 census it seems that they were then living in Roslea, Fermanagh http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Fermanagh/Rosslea/Tattinbarr/514252/
I cannot find any other information on them after the 1911 census. Can anyone help?
