Dublin / Re: Rock/Moore Connection

Sorry guys, just home and not thinking straight. One of the Camerones (possibly Jane, Maggie or Ellen) married a Moore. The obituary only states their parents as Mr and Mrs Moore, which is a real shame. I'm sorry but Alan Cameron is another mystery - though he is a nephew!

Also, they have to be nephews on Patricks wifes side because I have the entire family documented for his sister Mary Jane as she married John Curneen. There were no Moores on their side.77Ps. John Cameron married Ellen Green.
Her sister Mary Green married Patrick Cassidy, had no children so took TWO off her sister - Jane and Moya.

Hi MyLuck!
Thank you for the probing and interesting response. I will deal with it the easiest way.
When Patrick Rock was buried Richard, Sean and Roland attended with Alan Cameron. They were all nephews of Patrick - on his wifes side. She was Moya (Matilda) Cameron. Her father was John Cameron and they were born in Scotland. However, Moya and Jane were adopted by Patrick Cassidy as his wife was childless. The Camerons were in-laws of Mary Jane Rock, she was Patricks sister - my wifes grandmother.

My belief is that one of Moya Camerons brothers married a 'Moore' and thats where these children came from. She has brothers William and Alexander but they emigrated to Australia. That left David, John or James - unless they moved from Glasgow to Ireland also.
As you say, the purchase of a few records may solve the problem!

I am grateful for your response. My apologies for being so vague but I know nothing more than what is stated. This gives me some hope as at least Roland Moore appears in the search. A good starting point at least.

My wifes great-uncle was buried in 1937 in Killyclogher Omagh. At the funeral were the Moore family Dublin, Richard Roland Sean and their parents. Who were they, I am really keen to make contact! They were Patrick Rocks nephews and they were with Alan Cameron, the deceased Patricks in-laws. Please help!

I think that the parish in Armagh that Simon Rocks family came from was Derrynoose.

Sorry to sound confusing however living relatives could lead to Patricks past. He worked on the railway and the GNR(I) lines here in Omagh would possibly be one possibility, otherwise he may have worked on the Clogher Valley.
I really have no clues on which parish in Armagh and thats is most annoying. However, the name Simon is quite rare!

Hi thanks for your response, however everything in your response is known to me. The ancestry tree is possibly my own. I'm actually trying to go back to Armagh to trace his origins as I have everything else up to his buriel here in Omagh/Killyclogher area.

Establishing his childhood in Armagh and other family members has been difficult so I hope I am not abusing the forum by posting like this??

My wifes great-grandfather was born in Co.Armagh c. 1848 and was a railway porter, his name was Patrick Rock. His father was Simon Rock and was born early 1800. I am trying to locate living relatives of the Rocks as I have a wider family tree with some missing links. Hopefully someone can help.
