Good Afternoon,

I have discovered "a" Joseph LEVER died of Morbus Cardis on 12/03/1867 at 118 Ridgway Street, Manchester (is this Ancoats??), death advised by a lady called KENYON at 22 Ridgway Street.   Do you believe, on the balance of probability,  this advances the connection???

Good Morning,

I have uncovered a death entry for a Joseph LEVER aged 21 in the 1st quarter of 1867 in Manchester.
Possibly this could be the correct person, right age, for instance.

Is there any way of absolute identification, other than a Death Certificate?

Thank you, heywood.

Nothing under LEAVER so far, sadly.  Ah well, I can always paint the brick wall ::) ::)

Hello,

Hopefully somebody will be able to provide details for this gentleman after 27th October 1866 (his release from Salford's New Bailey Prison)......he is fully documented prior to that date, but sadly post-1866 I can find nothing verifiable.

His parents were Nicholas LEVER (1821-1873) and Jane LEVER nee HALLAM (1824 - ?) and there were 6 siblings, William, John William, Henry, Mary Jane, Charles and Elizabeth Ann.

Thank you for your help.

Thank you, Daisy,

Age 44 is very positive.   Hopefully the gender question will be answered similarly.

Hello,

The Australia Death Index, 1787-1985, courtesy of Ancestry, has no indication of this person's gender/age.

If female I should like to know a little more about her, for instance, age (?45), maiden name (?DREW), number of marriages (?HAMPTON then LIDDELL).   If male there is no interest!!

Thank you, for now

Both his prison records and those of the Philanthropic Institute confirm details of his illegitimacy.

Good Evening,

I believe Annette7 on the balance of probability may have uncovered the marriage of George GARROD, as the 1871 Census confirms the couple living in St. Mary, Stafford (I am concerned, however, where the "Welby/Wilby" came from).   Incidentally, Selina insists she was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire, although Stafford is "just up the road I suppose".

A full, reasonably cohesive, picture is beginning to emerge of George GARROD and I really am grateful for all your messages and help.

Thank you for the 1851 Census detail.......the Philanthropic Institute mentioned he had been in St. Thomas's hospital during that year, but no explanation.

Sadly, despite my enthusiasm, Selina's maiden name (?) CHULT produced no other connection except her marriage to John May!!!
