Thanks John. I looked for John Richard rather than the other way  ::)
I thought it would be the right family.

There are other mentions of ‘John Diggles’. I can only see snippets.
1877 - another murder reference with William Wood
1892 - perhaps a query re John Diggles who left Salford twenty five years ago  for New Zealand

Sorry about the wrong name. I have amended it.

The 1865 death you posted is a 1 yr old child.
This is a good site for checking ages at death and also mother’s maiden names in births. You need to sign in but it is free

I can’t see a birth for the child but there is a baptism:
August 28th 1864, Parish church Eccles
John Richard born October 2nd 1863
Parents John and Mary . The residence is Hulme and John is a Cotton Spinner.
Is that your family?

I would say she is described as ‘M’ for married. If you look back and forth on the census pages, there is a rather bold ‘W’ for one woman but others are ‘Wid’.

In 1911 she describes herself as ‘ married’ but that doesn’t mean they are together.

Birth certificates might have A J as father but she might have just given his name.
Hopefully, the later one might give his occupation which might help to trace him.

Thank you.
Sorry - more clarification needed.

Where and when does James Alfred turn up after 1881 when he is with his aunt?

Who was the informant for Mary’s death and where was she living?

That is not the right Worsley family in Dukinfield.
Going back to 1851 census, there are entries for Richard (Heather on marriage record) and Ann Worsley at 2221/122/26 and also Ann Worsley and family in Dukinfield.

Mary seems to have retained the Holland name to her death.

*amended - wrong name posted

Just to be clear.
Where do you have James after 1881?
Do you not have Mary after 1871 until her death in 1909?

Welcome to Rootschat  :)
You write:
Alfred only appears living with Mary's aunt when he was 6 (1891 census)

I can see 1881 3929/121/26
Where there is Alfred with the Quayle household. Is this him?

Possibly children from the marriage of Clara Manklow and John Samuel Bellinger.
So going back to your query, it looks like ‘Judri’ as you will know. Which child was born 1898/9? I can only see Frederick.  :-\

There are births with mmn Manklow.
James 1898 -  Manklow
Frederick 1901 March quarter mmn Manklow

And then
Frederick 1899 June quarter mmn Munday
