Hello Kathryn,
the marriage is on Free BMD I think:

James P B Hiskins and Florence L Isles Malmesbury December quarter Vol 5a pg 105 1918.

There is no other info but this would help you send for the certificate.

best wishes

Not sure at all here- I would have thought that they would have had children baptised young- as they had the others. These are just my musings.
They married in a church linked with Scotland (from memory) and Isobel has Scottish links.
In our time now, baptism in a Christian church is recognised for a Catholic marriage so there is no cause to be 'baptised again'.
Re the names - as neither Isobel or Caroline seem like Catholic names not sure re adopting one or the other would make a difference but being married to someone who has two names but was always known by his middle name- families do that sort of thing  ::)
Sorry to ask this 'cos I've forgotten- I know that one Army query was unsuccessful but is there a possibility with Royal Artillery records?
cheers
Kath

They do appear on the official 1901 census search index - just seen Florence and Ernest but you will have to pay!

My questions were more rhetorical - I think you sum it up accurately  :D
I would say that Parish records are a good bet - they may be hidden away somewhere.

Absolutely mad!!

Why is there no marriage for James and Mary Ann?
Where is Sarah who keeps having children?
Why is Alfred not Isaac Alfred and why is he a clerk?

No other Alfred Read/Reid/Reed shows up in censuses.

Everything seems to point to what you are presuming but it is still not proven.

Not sure if this helps but I wonder if one of the Wickham Market births would  help in that it would give an occupation for Isaac Alfred at that time.
Maybe Sarah died about that time-or they separated.
Will scout around- again!
