thankyou very much ken sorry i didnt think to quote his number. it is 3756 he was a private and his middle name was harold . he was discharged in 1917 due to losing a lung when he was gassed. hope this is more helpful

such kindness and a wealth of information! thankyou so much lostris,hackstaple and ken im indebted to you all. all i know abt harry in the boer war is his enlistment number suggests he enrolled probably just after ladysmith.      i have no idea abt northants but his number for 1890 is 394 and thats all i know. harry was in the boot and shoe trade and later the railway so probably the shoe trade in 1906. thankyou all

hi katy now i cant see your photo but hope this will be of use. my grandad william marston was from leicester and he joined the manchester regiment . quite a few did apparently and id love to know why.

i really hope someone can help me with this. my grandfather william marston i know was in gallipoli . was also told that he was torpedoed and ships sank twice in one day. any help in verifying this or anymore details ? will be happy for any info at all.

help needed please. my great grandfather harry hulett joined the 17th foot 3 times, 1890 1892 1899. i know he was in the boer war in 1899,but  know nothing abt the other times. the 1890 paper says he was called up on mobilisation of reserve but thats all. i know at that tine there were the peninsula , indian and african wars and would like to know where he went. any help gratefully received.

hi gee not sure if the hospitals graves were communal but as the lady said there must be a list. have you tried contacting leicester cemetaries? not knowing how far back you are looking but if its a long way then there were potters fields

hello john thankyou for that information thats very kind of you indeed . the ages of william and ann were estimated on anns burial in 1832 aged 79 and guesswork on the class 4 on the muster roll for william as thats the only record i haue . thankyou john

john their son francis was an adult baptism at stevington in 1825 . james born abt 1787 i dont know about.

thankyou for your reply john. up to that date my ancestors were only in stevington and i really dont know if or when the huletts from the other villages connect. i think they must do at some point though.some were baptised as children but others as adults so its pretty difficult . william and ann could be from the other villages i just dont know. it seems that the stevington branch all descend from their sons james and francis .  any help much appreciated .
