Do you know  the parents first names? If so. you could check NZ Archives to see if a will was probated. This would give you an area of NZ to concentrate on. I see in Telecom white pages the name Cheyne is widely distributed throughout NZ.

Hello Pauline J and jorose,
Thank you for your replies and suggestions. I did a Google for John Turner Colman Fawcett, and found he was a godson of George Colman, who was a playwright, and manager of Haymarket. Also at Haymarket was actor John Fawcett. Perhaps this is JTC's father, and consequently my fourth great grandfather. You have given me many leads to follow up.
Thank you again,

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Fawcett, John T C Birth/Christening

From the 1861 Census The Reverend John T C Facwett says he was born in London. The year would be 1805 +/-.
I have since found his second name as Turner.
I cannot find him in the IGI. Where would I start looking?
If someone can find him, there should also be a brother Anthony.

Dear Nessie,
Thank you very much for your prompt reply.
I have not seen the original letters here in NZ, but can see how "Kildwick" could be transcribed into "Keldwide".
I have now seen photos of the church at Kildwick, and also found his death year in 1867 (Free BDM) with the name of John Turner C Fawcett.
I have lots of avenues to explore now. A great break through.

According to papers published in NZ, this man is an uncle to my great  great grandfather Peter Fawcett, (1830-1891).
The Rev Fawcett was at Keldwide Vicarage, Shipton, in 1855.
Can anyone help with the actual name(s) for J T C, or with Keldwide Vicarage? Then perhaps I can take this family further back.
