Thank you Mckha489

It seems that some sort of security scare has made the ability to connect closed down.
I will have to attack this problem from another angle.

Hello All,

I have stumbled across a woman who is tagging surnames of interest to me. She has only signed with a first name, which I do not recognize. Is there any way I can contact her?

Capetown, I am sure you have been reading my mind.

Yes, it is the William Okey family I am looking at, and in particular, the second Elizabeth.
As part of an upskilling exercise on WikiTree a mentor will check that I have researched and written a well-sourced biography for Elizabeth.

Unfortunately I have come to a standstill almost immediately. Elizabeth (Ockey) was born to William and Prudence and baptised 16 May 1708. But I have not been able to find a marriage or a death for her. I really think it is asking too much that her marriage would also be under the surname of Ockey - an Elizabeth Ockey married Thomas Fox in 1729 at Gloucester St Mary de Crypt - the age is okay - but again I am worrying about the distance. And of course, no parents names are mentioned.

I will also have to check out two other names you mention - John 1674 and Jane 1676.

Thank you for your interest.

Hello KGarrad,

Yes, I am a member of the Forest of Dean - I have two separate families from the Forest of Dean who came to Canterbury, New Zealand. I do wonder if they knew of each other in England, and then once in New Zealand. (And they are not letting on).

Thank you Pauline and KGarrad,

It looks as though my Okeys travelled between Newent and Littledean with no trouble.

Hello All,

At the moment an Okey/Oakey/Ockey family is in my sights. Some are in Newent and some in Little Dean. As my research is in late 1600's and early 1700's am I safe in assuming that the families are living in either one or the other, and not a mixture?
According to Google, the two places are over 3 hours walking apart. Would a mother carry her new baby that distance to be baptised at the other place. (Both Church of England).
Thank you from Jean in New Zealand
