Hi Martin and Annie

I have found that the symbol to the right of the hints leaf (at the top of the page) that looks like a speech box links to the message pages.

If there is a green spot next to the speech box there are unread messages. Once read, the green spot disappears.

Hi Teregram

I think you are right about Cellar. I was thinking they might have been on a ship.

The same site also gives age at death from July 1837.

It's amazing how many online trees have errors because they have guessed which death reference was their ancestor.

Hi Glencare

There are a few trees on Ancestry for Harry under Elston Edwards but they don't have any more information than you. It appears there are quite a few siblings. Have you checked any marriages to see if he was a witness at any of them?
Also it appears that his mother outlived her husband by forty years and died in the Bridgwater District in 1949 aged 96.
Bridgwater is the District for Babcary which was where she died according to the Probate Calendar. Do you have her Will? There might be a clue there or even in the Wills of his siblings. You might be able to narrow down the time frame for his death.
Have you looked for Hannah (Stott) Edwards in 1939? The threat of war may have caused him to make a visit home.
He certainly is a very elusive chap.
Good Luck.

Old Lancashire saying.

"Clogs to clogs in three generations"

That is wealth earned in one generation seldom lasts to the third (grandchildren's) generation.

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Re: Brown family from Brandesburton
« on: Friday 15 October 21 05:14 BST (UK)  »
Hi Jadeish

You did not mention that both Thomas and Mary get very much older in 1861 than they claim to be in 1851. Suddenly they both claim to have been born about 1798. There is no Thomas Brown baptism at Brandesburton between 1798 and 1810 so it looks like a bit of obfuscation is going on.

The baptism of William Ward at Sinnington states that Mary was a single woman. So it seems to me they are presenting as man and wife but are not married probably due to Thomas being married already.

There is a burial of a Francis Brown at Brandesburton in 1832. He is aged 53 and of Arnold. There are two places called Arnold in nearby parishes. One at Long Riston and one at Swine. Francis could be a brother or cousin of Thomas.

Sinnington is quite a way from Brandesburton. It's in the North Riding about 40 miles distant. Coulton is also in the North Riding and not that close to Sinnington. It's all a bit muddled. It might be worth seeing if there was a Bastardy Bond for the father of William. There could be some information about Mary.

Did you look into David Agar who is a visitor in 1851?  Often Visitors turn out to be family.

Certainly Thomas and Mary are hiding something. How did they meet?  Hiring Fair?

Finding their Deaths/Burials would be a priority to see what age they are suposed to be when they died.

Lancashire / Greenal or Greenall - a place in Lancashire
« on: Monday 16 August 21 17:02 BST (UK)  »
Good Day Lancs Rootschatters

I have a reference to Greenal being the abode of someone buried at Kirkham in 1797.
Googling didn't help much.

I got a hit on Greenall as the birth place of Jane Jackson born 1816 and living at Great Eccleston in 1851. Otherwise lots of hits for Greenall as a surname but not a place name.

Does anyone know where Greenal / Greenall is or was?

By the way the person who died there in 1797 had connections with Great Ecclestone so I am assuming Greenal is/was somewhere nearby to G.E.

Hoping someone local knows this place. Thanks for reading.
