Hertfordshire / Starr Family Weston, Herts Help
« on: Friday 15 November 13 13:24 GMT (UK)  »

Hi I am trying to do my wife's maternal family tree for a Christmas gift and am having trouble with the maiden names of the Starr men's wives.

I would really appreciate help for

Thomas Starr - Ann ?   (mid C18th - no confirmed dobs)
James Starr b.1786 - Ann ?
William Starr b.1816 - Ann Lowen (confirmed)
Arthur Starr b. 1851 - Sarah ?

With Thomas Starr and Ann, I have got a marriage in 1770 of Thomas Starr to an Ann Munt but a couple of children born before this date, which I thought would be a bit of a no-no back then?

Thanks

Hertfordshire / Re: Beadle's children help

Thanks Ray, I didn't even realise that column/information was recorded.

It does say '3' and none died, so perhaps Frederick J was just a difficult baby and put them off!  :)

Hertfordshire / Beadle's children help
« on: Thursday 07 November 13 10:31 GMT (UK)  »

I am researching the Beadle's of Watton-at-Stone., Frederick and his wife Mary-Ann (Blake).

I have got them at Tewin early 1900's and Chigley, Essex on the 1911 census

I have got three children so far:
Frederick J Beadle 1891 - Watton-at-Stone
Albert 1899 - Tewin
Lewis 1903 - Tewin

My question is there is a big gap between Frederick and Albert - 8 yrs, it seems odd there not to be any children in between, I cannot even find any siblings in those 8 yrs who died young.

Please could anyone help to see if there are any other siblings or maybe Frederick and Mary-Ann had a big argument that lasted 8 yrs!  ;D

Hertfordshire / Re: George Beadle (Benington) Brickwall
« on: Monday 04 November 13 08:51 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you, however on Familysearch it has the following:-

1861 Census George Beadle born 1785 Benington
1871 Census George Beadle born 1782 Benington

Then a christening 29/4/1781 George Beadle in Layston.

There is quite a difference between being born 1781 to 1785 and Benington is 15-20 miles away from Layston which is near Buntingford.

I have found William Beadle and Helen Skegg before but think they are the parents of the George Beadle christened in Layston 1781 and my descendent is the Benington born one for who I can find no parent information?

Hertfordshire / George Beadle (Benington) Brickwall

Hi

I am trying to research my maternal family tree and have hit a brickwall at George Beadle.

He married Dorcas Walby at Aston in 1802 and seems to have come from Benington, Hertfordshire born around 1781-1785.

There are a couple of George Beadles born around this time in Benington and I don't know how to find out which one is my relative and who his parents are.

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks

Occupation Interests / Steamship Cook
« on: Sunday 03 November 13 12:03 GMT (UK)  »

Hi

Please could anyone give me some avenues to look into to find out which ship(s) my G-G Grandfather William Scott would have worked on, as on his daughters marriage certificate his occupation is steamship cook.

This would have been around 1870's-1890's and he lived in Glasgow.

I emailed the Glasgow Maritime Museum and have not heard back so not sure where I can go now?

Thank you.
