Lancashire / Re: Silcock Family from Flyde

In Thornton there is a 'Silcocks' Corner' - a right-angled bend in the road. The family probably lived and farmed there. Not too far from Skippool Creek. There were Butler's in Staining up to quite recent years. Two still live fairly local.  They are all descended from the Botelers , a family who came over with William the Conqueror and were a land-owning family in the Fylde ( not Flyde)  for centuries.

There is a book published called 'Rufford; its past & its people' by Joan Rimmer that might be of interest.

Lancashire / Re: Hulme Local History Society

This society has been in existance a long time but none of the committee are emailers. They operate on an ad-hoc basis. I am new to this site, so send me a private message and I will try to find you someone to deal with.  Check the website of the Lancashire Local History Federation, as the society may be a member
