Can anybody help with the name of the street Hugh Clark was born at in Edinburgh. It looks like Richard Street, Newington or Richmond perhaps?
Many thanks.

Unfortunately, not our guy.
Just trying to find who he married before the 1902 marriage in Edinburgh to Mary Griffen.  (Said he was a 'widower' on marriage registration).  He was born approx. 1868 so would have married ... say 1888 onwards, - and then married again in 1902.

BTW - he emigrated to New Zealand in 1922 with Mary and children.  She died 5 1/2 months after arriving here.

Can anyone help with more information on the 1891 census for Edinburgh for William F. Clark. There is one there "William F. Clark, 25 yrs, St Andrews".   Is he living with anyone else?
Tks

I checked the marriage and it took place in Canongate; so decided to buy more credits to look at the birth with Margaret as the mother in 1867.  It does say (illegitimate), but unfortunately does not give any other information apart from her occupation as a 'house keeper'.  Will certainly get this filed with the papers.

Looking for William F. Clark b. 1868 in the 1871 census.  Mother Margaret and father either Peter or Patrick Clark.  Thinking he was born out of wedlock as their marriage took place in 1870.  Can find them all in 1881 1891 etc. but would be curious as to address is I could find them in 1871 around Edinburgh area.
Couldn't find birth reg. so not too sure what name he would have been registered under. Mother's maiden name was Farquharson.

When Christian died in 1866 aged 55 yrs, said her father was Thomas Clifton, Weaver and mother was Margaret Haddon; and she was still single.  Bless her.

Unfortunately cannaot find a marriage rego.  for them.  Just hypothesis at this stage but I am fairly sure of my research (at this stage).
Also no birth registrations for Christian (and I am sure of a brother Andrew and possibly John, and then again a Thomas would be in the mix too).  All a bit strange but seems to lead to the right scenario.
Thomas seems to have been born in 'E" according to the 1841 census.  Even stranger!

Did "occupier" have a special meaning?  I wonder what it really meant.

I agree that the second word does look like "present" - but then I thought it could be "servant".

I did find her birth registration.    She was born to William Haldane and Christian Adamson on 4 July 1768 so perhaps she was only 88 yrs old.

I did wonder whether the 1841 census should read '80' instead of '30'.  But a daughter of that age would fit too.
