The Common Room / Researching others FH
« on: Sunday 05 June 16 10:38 BST (UK)  »
Do others get those that want full history, without buying a cert.

I enjoy helping, but spent lots tracing my own.  Why post if your not at some point interested in doing this?

I don't get it, if interested, it's a financial maybe in future..

Those that ask for help, some never return, those when you state you need that cert, some just gone, do they think their FH can be done completely by another?

Know not all are like this, some are truly interested in their past, but just lately those I have chosen to help ...

Just a vent, think I need another hobby in my freetime from work.

Hi all, a question for those that know. Am thinking of having this testing done as in genealogy it intrigues me.  But TBH I don't understand it.

Can any give a low down in simplistic terms. Or is it too complex.

What will I hope to find?

Big ask?

The Common Room / Free access Irish records all March
« on: Friday 11 March 16 14:48 GMT (UK)  »
On Ancestry homepage they claim all Irish records are free to view through March, for those without a sub.  I can open some like bapts, but unable to open civil reg or tithe books etc.

Anyone know why, if they claim all are free?

Galway / 1851 extracted census
« on: Tuesday 08 March 16 02:29 GMT (UK)  »

Could some kind person inform me of the above link.  My GGG grandfather was Thomas Baggot/Baggott/Bagot. In 1901 Irish census he is down as aged 50, with two dau.  What was the purpose of extracted census?  Is it possible this is him, no age given, but there is 4yrs written by whoever prossessed.  These parents have the same names of two of his children. Is there an original census beside extracts?

Thanks if you can help
