Berkshire / Humphrey Absolom Berkshire 1635
« on: Friday 10 December 21 06:11 GMT (UK)  »
Trying to establish his background.  I have Absolom's going back to 1490, many of them in Cholsey but I am not sure where this one fits in. I have attached the other information that I have.

Humphrey Absolom 1635 Berkshire.  He had two children: John Absolom 1664 Childrey, Berkshire and Humphrey Absolom 1665 Berkshire.
Humphrey Absalom died 5 July 1718, Buckland, Berkshire.

Any help much appreciated it.

Send me a private message and I will send you what I have.   I do have longhursts going back to 1450 or thereabouts.  But to be frank I do not have references for them but some interesting stuff on the LONGHURST, SPOONER (Peryer, Diggins, Ayhurst, Collins, Burchat, Redford) 1476-1671 to DENDY.

I am also interested in receiving the tree you have.  I have wills in my document which is not at this stage a tree and is far from finished.

Is this the John you are referring too:
John Longhurst 1515 married Amy Diggins in 1537 at St Margaret, Ockley, Mole Valley District, Surrey.  John and Amy had 15 children:  William Longhurst June 1537, Edward Longhurst 24 July 1539-1575, Thomas Longhurst, 16 February 1540-25 January 1623, Julyane Longhurst 27 January 1542-1575, Henry Longhurst 1545-5 December 1547, Hugh Longhurst 7 May 1546-1575, Agnes Longhurst 25 January 1547-1575, Thomas Longhurste, 26 March 1548, Christopher Longhurst 6 January 1549-1575, Mathew Longhurst 16 April 1552, 1555 Jul 8 Richard Longhurst 8 July 1555, Christina Longhurst 20 April 1556, Margaret Longhurst 1557, Alice Longhurst 1561, Walter Longhurst 28 September 1562-16 October 1632 (married Agnis Astone 5 August 1571).
The above were all registered at St Peter & St Paul in Ewhurst Surrey or at St Margaret in Ockley, Surrey.
John Longhurst died 3 March 1574 in Ewhurst but buried in Ockley, Surrey.
Amy Longhurst (Diggins) died in 1574 in Ockley.

In the very first line it has the name of a place of residence I assume in Mickleham.  I look at and think it is 'wifamble or wilfamble'?

Many thanks to anyone who can assist in clarifying this.

I had another look at this with the info on the man.  I see they don't have her surname as Offaly but  Gladys ap Conwyn so perhaps I am up the garden path again, been there many times.

It is this family that I am interessted in  Sir William Offley 1400 and somewhere I read the possibility that Beatrice or Agnes may have been an earlier Offley.

Beautiful warm spring day here in Otautahi / Christchurch, Aotearoa, today, gardening will be part of the day.

Many thanks Bookbox, I hadn't got that far with googling his name.  But I had seen somewhere that her name was not Beatrice but Gladys.

I have these two pieces, is the Latin roughly the same as the one in English?  Or just her marriage?

Beatrice de Offaly was born in 1052 (Kildare, Edenderry, County Offaly, Ireland, pretty unlikely)  She married Walter FitzOther Constable of Windsor Castle 1st Feudal Baron of Eton, Buckinghamshire about 1067, in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  They were the parents of at least 5 sons. She died about 1100, in England, at the age of 48.

The Chronicle of Abingdon records that "Walterus filius Oteri, castellanus de Uuildesore" restored "duas silvas…Virdelæ et Basceat, apud Winckefeld nostram villam" to the abbot of Abingdon, dated to [1100/16], and that "uxorem suam Beatricem cum filio suo Willelmo" effected the transfer 8 Sep.
