Thankyou Manukarik, it seems like the best option price wise.

Thankyou so much Sparret, Cando and Majm.

I did not know where in Australia he passed.

All we know is some type of machine accident.

Also not being able to locate the registration did mean we could not order the death certificate and pay for it.

How interesting he changed his name.

Australia / Where is the death registration?

Very confusing

Paul Robert Glentworth died 15 May 1961 (findagrave)
Brian Donald Glentworth died 10th May 1961 (billiongraves)

How would you find the index entry for either of these men at vicbdm?

It appears they are in the same grave? I can't find either in a record outside of Melbourne General Cemetery.

I can see this via old newspapers:

In October 1888 at Dalston (Yorkshire?)  "Daniel Gumble, a young gipsy, was charged with a violent assault upon John Roster, his father-in law, also gipsy".

So possible that you could find Gumble and Roster together in records.

Travelling People / Re: Mary Gritt nee Sherred

Mary Sherred is mentioned briefly on all the Romany websites I've come across (as Granny Gritt), on one or two sites her father Moses is also sometimes mentioned, so I have no doubt they were part of the New Forest Gypsy community. Their occupations were Sweeps, but I have been unable to get any further back and was hoping that someone on here may have connections to the family. Moses wife was Harriet nee Freeman and the Freemans were Sweeps too.

Thanks for the reply

I've found a newspaper article stating that Mary Gritt wife of William Gritt, a chimney sweep died aged 41 on the 6th of January 1883 near Fawley (New Forrest). And that they had 9 children plus some that had died. It appears she passed in childbirth of a son.

So this gives you a death date for Granny Gritt

Do you know where Mark Gaskin died because his death records might contain his parents names?
Did he die in England? Near Gateshead?

I can see Leonora Hamar's marriage in 1908 in Camlachie to Alfred on

I can also see her marriage to Mark Gaskin in 1919 in Leith South (Edinburgh?)

Both marriages would contain witnesses, because they took place in Scotland buying records seems to be the only straight forward way.
