Thanks all for your help.

I have the marriage cert now and surprise, surprise - no father for Albert!

They were however married in a Roman Catholic church called Church of Our Lady of St Patrick in Nottingham and I now know he was a motor mechanic, so a couple of little clues.

Maybe when the GRONI index is online I might find something.

Thanks Ladyhawk and Gaffy for your help :)

I'm still investigating, hopefully I will have a breakthrough!

Gaffy

Thanks so much for the info and having a look for me :)

I will have to keep both places in mind I think.

Thanks Ladyhawk,

The Thomas in London with his brother John is the right one. I also found the same John in the later census and thought with the occupation it must be the same one.
I can't find anything else at the moment though that says anything but Ireland for their place of birthm
I think I will have to order the marriage cert and hope it helps :)

Jo

English certs show mother and father unless purposefully omitted.
Good idea about the electoral register!

I am waiting on the marriage cert, so hopefully that will help shed some light!

We really know nothing about him as he and Theresa divorced when their two children were young and they never saw him again and can't remember much about him.

Thanks for looking.

Sligo / Thomas Hannan b1853 - Buninadon?

I am looking for more info regarding Thomas Hannan, born c 1853 in Sligo.

On the census the exact place is hard to decipher, but looks like Buninadon?

He moved to Gotham in Nottinghamshire and married a Jane Marshall in 1889, his profession is described as a marble polisher.

This is a part of my husband's grandmother's tree and she is very interested to find out more about the Hannan's and where they are from in Ireland.

Can anyone help?

Jo
