When records were photocopied by NLI they only went up to c 1880.This was possibly because of perceived need to respect family privacy,even with records that are now over 130 years old

When I tried link or going to irishgenealogy.ie site my computer freezes and I have to shut down and restart.No problem with any other sites.I had assumed that access to these records closed on privacy grounds.

1901 census for county Clare shows that all of the 135 individuals of this surname were Catholic.I would infer from this that it's likely your ancestor also Catholic.Unfortunately if from parish of Killaloe no parish records exist before 1828.

If you google "cartron land" you get sites giving explanation of this term.It was a land division of about 30 acres.The term derives from Irish for quarter.
