The obituary gives his wife's and children's names. Also says "and a trail of family and friends stretching across three continents." So it does sound like the right man.

The Emma BEND whose birth is registered in 1864 in the Grantham Registration District (which included Bottesford) was baptised at Bottesford with parents Sansom BEND and Ann nee DENT (as noted by Ladyhawk). She married John ROBINSON and is found with him and the family in later censuses. She is not the Emma BARFOOT (nee BEND) who marries George LOMAS.
It is certainly a mystery. At the moment I'm inclined to going back to the idea that the Fanny (nee BEND) who is living with Frederick BARFOOT is the same person who later calls herself Emma (who marries George LOMAS). They certainly had a history of changing surname (SMITH in the 1891 census and at dau Ellen's birth in 1884), so some subterfuge going on. Though why this should be I have no idea!

Anyway, I think it's pretty clear that Emma BEND (born 1864), daughter of Sansom BEND married John ROBINSON. (see previous posts from bbart and ladyhawk among others.)
It appears that Fanny BEND (born 1860), daughter of Sansom BEND married (or just lived with) Frederick BARFOOT.

For interest - this could be Sansom BEND in 1861 - at Alfreton, Derbyshire. Lodging in the house of Thomas PARNHAM and family, also from Bottesford.
