Roxburghshire / MI for William Johnston Renwick
« on: Sunday 26 April 15 22:23 BST (UK)  »
Could someone tell me if the MI gravestone for my great-grandfather, William Johnstone RENWICK, appears in the DVD volume for Ashkirk-Selkirkshire, or Galashiels-Eastlands and St. Peter's or Cavers and  Kirkton?  I used Renwick in the Gravestones Index Search from Borders Family History and came up with three possible cemeteries where he might be buried.  I'll purchase the DVD when I know where his gravestone is located.

William was born April 3,1857 in Hobkirk, Roxburgshire and died December 26, 1938 in Ashkirk, Selkirk.  He lived much of his life in Denholm, few miles from Hawick.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.  I just don't want to purchase all the DVDs trying to find him.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Great Grandfather William Johnston Renwick
« on: Wednesday 04 February 15 03:40 GMT (UK)  »
Could you please restore this photo of my great grandfather William Johnston Renwick (1857-1938)?  He is the man in the center of the photo and lived in Hawick, Scotland.  This is the only picture I have of him and it might have been taken before 1913.  I would appreciate whatever enhancement you could manage.
Thank you,
Beverly

Roxburghshire / MI for William Johnstone RENWICK
« on: Monday 17 November 14 20:18 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for the cemetery and MI where my great grandfather, William Johnstone Renwick, (1857-1938) is buried.  He probably lived and raised his family in or near the village of Denholm.  From the Borders Fanily History Society website, I know that I can buy CDs or DVDs with copies of Monumental Inscriptions for various cemeteries.  However, I don't know which ones would have the MI for William Renwick.  The DVD for Cavers and Kirkton (inc. Denholm) has the MI for 8 Renwicks but I don't know which ones.  Can anyone offer me some advice?

My great grandfather was William Johnstone Renwick (1857-1938) and his wife was Jessie Nichol Murray.  He probably lived somewhere near Hawick or Denholm and was a mole-catcher on a nearby estate.  I have one small photo of him and would like to have a better one.  If someone has a photo of him or the family, would you be willing to send me one as an attachment?  If more information is needed, please let me know.

Family History Beginners Board / Agnes Kedzie or Kedie wife of George Renwick
« on: Sunday 10 August 14 00:23 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for information about Agnes Kedzie or Kedie, wife of George Renwick (1790-1867), my third great grandfather.  An OPR on Scotlands Peoples shows that Agnes and George posted their banns on January 2, 1825 in Hobkirk Parish.  The only other record of her is on the Register of Death of George Renwick, showing that he was the widower of Agnes Kedzie.  In the Census of 1841 George was living in Cavers Parish with his children, the youngest being 5 years old so Agnes was still alive in 1836.
I found birth records on Scotlands People for several infants named Agnes Kedzie but they were born in the 1830s, much too late to be a wife of George Renwick.  I estimate that Agnes Kedzie might have been born sometime in 1790s or early 1800s and had died by 1836.  Any help or suggestions of where to look further would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

I am looking for the younger brothers of my grandfather, James Renwick (1890-1976).  According to ScotlandsPeople Robert Renwick was born November 8, 1895, and George Renwick was born February 7, 1899.  Their father was William Renwick and the brothers were born in Denholm, District of Cavers.  Robert and George seem to have disappeared but they didn't emigrate to the US and ScotlandsPeople doesn't have their death information.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Family History Beginners Board / Renwick, Murray and Johnstone of Denholm
« on: Thursday 17 July 14 22:56 BST (UK)  »
William Renwick was my great grandfather by way of his son, James Renwick (1890-1976), my grandfather, who emigrated from Denholm, Scotland to the US in 1913. William was married to Jessie Nichol Murray (1863-1935). He was a mole-catcher on an estate in Scotland. William's father was another James Renwick (1826-1903) and he was married to Helen Johnstone (1831-1890). I am looking for any information about these ancestors and would especially like to find out who was the father of James Renwick (1826-1903). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
