Anglesey / Seed - Prichard family
« on: Sunday 30 August 20 15:02 BST (UK)  »
I am researching my Preston Seed family and realised that family stories of Anglesey connections derive from the marriage of Matilda Seed from Preston to Richard Prichard in 1886. Matilda came to Anglesey as a teacher and is found boarding as a school mistress in Holyhead in 1881.

I am curious as to how this girl from Preston came to be teaching in Holyhead. Any ideas?

A great nephew of Matilda's Robert Ward Seed died age 6 'suddenly' at the mountain, Holyhead in 1919.  I'd like to see if there is a newspaper report about this - does anyone know whether there were any English Language newspapers in the area?

Thank you.
Thomas Frederick Seed b, 1861 is another of my missing people. His parents had a messy divorce case in 1870. I have him with paternal grandparents and uncle Frederick on 1871 census, whilst his father and mother are living separately in Weston Super Mare. His sisters are with mother. His father died 1874. His mother remarried twice more!
I have no sightings after 1871. I wondered if he and Uncle Frederick Stewart Seed went away somewhere when family had gone.
I will check Find my Past for out going passenger lists.

Thanks for the reply.

All good suggestions but...
His only brother pre-deceased him.
The family grave was full when his father was buried in 1895, and Iíd have thought there would be a death index record?

Any idea where I can check passenger lists?
Ancestry only has incoming records that I can find.

Thanks again.

So, now established that Frederick was the informant on his father's death in 1895.
No further information though.

Any help/suggestions appreciated in tracking down this ancestor who disappears after 1891 census.

He was born St Helier, Jersey 3 May 1846, appears with parents, Thomas and Amelia on  1851, 1861, 1871, 1881 census as a portrait artist, photographer living around Bristol/Hereford, 1891 living  alone Princes Place Clifton, Bristol.
Mother died 1888. Father died 1895.
No sign of Frederick on marriage, death indexes, subsequent census.
I'm wondering if he might have gone abroad.
Any way I can check this?
Anywhere else I can look?

Many thanks

Lancashire Lookup Requests / St Helen's Garstang burials?
« on: Friday 06 September 19 11:50 BST (UK)  »
I would like more information about a grave in St Helen's, Churchtown, Garstang grave yard.
I believe Thomas Seed age 85 was buried there in 1839, and his wife Ann age 85 in 1842.
Lancs opc have the name on the grave as William Seed, but I'm fairly sure that there has been a mistake, either at time of burial, or in later transcribing of the record.  All details apart from the first name are correct, and there is no William Seed death in registers for this time/place.

Does anyone know where I can find information about the grave or an MI?
(Assuming there is a stone)
Many thanks.

Has anyone come across any Seed MIís at St Helenís Garstang or know where I could search?

I am looking for Thomas Seed, 85 died Dec 1839 and his wife Ann Seed died Jan 1842.
They are Roman Catholic.

Lancs opc gives me a William Seed with same details as my Thomas and Iím wondering if it would be a mistake. I want to check to see if there are a Thomas and Ann in same grave.
