It's a shame I didn't see your post before as I was in Dunedin this week. The local history floor at Dunedin city library also conserve a lot of cemetary records and the ladies there are very helpfull for genealogy.

You can also contact : http://www.dunedinfamilyhistory.co.nz/dfhg/moodle/  - Dunedin family history association

Cheers

I tried and it is not very accurate
and my point also was to know if section 85 means a street number or a cadastral number

Hello,

I have this entry in NZ electoral 1881 -
Property qualification: Port Chalmers, house, section 85, Scotia street.

Section 85 - what is the correspondance with current street numbering - how to find it and especially where ?????

thre are details from 1920s
I fyou wanted history of the sections, the records there indicate in 1920 that various lots were developed..this could be the first subdivision of the land into housing sections..eg large section broken up

In 1918, 1920 only 2 people lived in Anne St and 1919 no listings

1925 had been lot of development and 10 residences listed! (numbering not yet given..normal when not many in street)
Bye
Althea

Thank you very much Althea .... since I have found the link .. and will request the documents for viewing next time I am going to wellington ... I seems Highland park and anne street was a late developement for Wadestown (unlike places close to Thorndon)

1920s ? ....  The dwelling was divided in 1960's only

If not, in the old map I have (dated 1933),  I have found that the drainage plan was made for CE Fawthorpe (the father) .. John Kenneth was not mentionned.  John Kenneth married in 1933 (maybe it was a wedding gift from his father this house + dwelling ???? ??? He was the eldest in the family ...

I will ask the council if there was renumbering of the street at that time ...

I have a document in the LIM (very hard to read) showing the drainage system etc... and the parcel ... and the name is Fawthorpe ... I need to come back to it to see the exact date ...

Was the land cheap at this time in Wadestown ? (not cheap anymore   ;) ) I am surprised a plumber can offer such a large piece of land (though his father was master plumber .. probably had his own company)  .. the current 52 anne street is more than 720 m2 .. before the subdivision it was even bigger !!!

I had a phone call this morning from Wellington Archives. They don't have much first hand info on this house... they are working on (confirmed by email)

I have started a list of possible previous owners before 1950 (I haven't yet found who built the house)

To sum up

1940 owner was JK Fawthorpe  - plumber  (son of C. Fawthorpe master plumber from Weld Street) - he put the house on the market and withdraw from the market (source paperpast)
1942 M G Murphy
1950 Raymond E Hay teacher
1955 Frederick H Martin - draughsman

1961 the dwelling was divided ...

according what rootschatter have been searching John Kenneth Fawthorpe was living on 52 Anne street with his wife in 1935 (electoral rolls). However it is not sure when he started to live in and when the house was built.
