My friends grandfather recently died and left money to grandchildren including a cousin noone had heard of before so they've asked me to look if I can find any records ...I feel like someone off heir hunters

I may have found missing cousin on electoral rolls providing he didn't change his surname to his mother's maiden name or a step fathers surname ( 1 potential remarriage for the mother ) .

Viktoria your mobility scooter sounds well worth the investment.
Independence is sooo important.

I took my stroller to city centre yesterday it's good because I like walking but includes a seat if I do feel dizzy . Adjusted to my height skim able to walk straight.

It does fold t but I haven't yet tried to take it on bus . I'm able to carry a fair bit of shopping in the bag and don't feel the weight .

But it's uphill most of the way back and rather rattly on any surface which isn't smooth . I'm going to have the wheels checked

So yesterday I had back ache . I won't use it today because no shopping so I LL take bus. The fare has gone up to £3 single
In a few weeks i.ll be entitled to free busses !

Re chocolate I was given a divine darkchoc advent calendar .it's 70% so don't feel guilty about opening several windows at once . Better with something sweet .

Thanks for the laugh pinetree

Welly I missed your post . Good luck with replacing items .. before you rush out and buy brand new check  that friends and family.havent got spares lying around.

I'm on 2 local Facebook pages where people are always offering freebies ..I don't know how they accumulate unwanted TVs or furniture but it's very handy.

I will be giving things away next time I move because i.ll have less space .

Some furniture can go back to my mum to replace her flood damaged things

Applying for state pension goes on and on

I'm avoiding the on line alternatives and using phone . definitely worth the wait. Very helpful kind people but often sent from 1 department to another.

I'm now at stage of borrowing money to make the voluntary contribution for 3 missing years national insurance payments

I need to  chase up years abroad+ whether I get any workplace pension for the part time work I did on return to GB .

I can't apply for "attendance allowance" until my birthday. That's the one that will help pay the rent .!
Meanwhile I'm attempting to sell possessions on Facebook to help with bills

Such a hard time for everyone..

Retirement age brings a lot of practical help from various organisations which my younger wheelchair bound friends are not entitled to.

Busy day ahead ..I'm viewing a  room in a shared house but I don't know if pension will be considered adequate form of income .

Looking into sharing a flat with a friend as a cheaper option.

Thanks Viktoria

The drains could be better managed and the tendency to build on flood plains .

& I think global warming is down to human behaviour too .

I'm definitely a moonatic ...it controls women's behaviour especially.

I watched "call the midwife" too it's reached the 1970's now so reflects my childhood years .

Louisa you were brave to drive this morning.

Goodnight all
New week tomorrow !

I spent some of today sorting out my mother's water damaged photos .

Quite a lot of the photos had survived despite albums being damaged . So she and my sister had already rescued our childhood photos removing them from albums and. Numbering them there are 75 of my baby years

I was pleased that most of my Nana's photos from album. 1920-1940 had survived except for first page and last page & 1 photo in the middle stuck to another.

The fact that the water may have been toxic does mean that throwing things away is safer .

It was  a good excuse for a clear out and my mother is philosophical that her kitchen needed redoing anyway & the car was due for repairs . She's also grateful that unlike some of her neighbours she hasn't had to move to the local Travelodge but a friend in the village ..near shops + library is going to rent her a room with bathroom.

Also she plans to go back most days+ use her upstairs rooms as an office .the electrician got the lights working + the heating needs to be on with a dehumidifier to dry downstairs out . The carpets have been removed.

The village has an amazing community spirit. They are helping with the clean up offering hot thermos . washing loads. use of ovens . & Lifts

If you saw news of the pub owner who rescued a woman from car . residents wanted to start a gofund account for him & his pub but he asked for any money to go to the local churches or the rescue organisation all he wanted was some physical help with cleaning !

What a hero

Rosie I was charged when I changed address so wasn't going to do it again . My driving licence ran out a few months ago  anyway.

Victoria how long will it take to get your stair lift ? My aunt has oneand it didn't need much cleaning according to my cousin .

Louisa hope your car starts when you need it or that battery change isn't too much of a palava

I was researching my friends grandfather for him and when I made contact with his elderly aunt discovered that she considered him a long lost baby.
He had no idea that his aunt's and cousins had looked for him after his mother removed him from their care and moved towns without leaving an address.

He now has a big family in Wales having been brought up as a single child of a divorced mother .

He didn't know paternal cousins either . Though they knew about him .
