Sorry, I am going to bed now, did not plan on putting a NZ request on here, and had not worked out the best time to do it.

I could put a link to where he was living on googlemaps in 1939, with English wife of 4 years, but it is up a farm track on Wiltshire/Hampshire border and no street view.  2 children born 1936 and 1939.

Thanks for the extra information.

Wonder when/if he divorced his first wife.

I keep on trying to enter that address, but googlemaps/uk refuses to recognise it and keeps sending me to Inverness Avenue, Hamilton East.  Do you have a postcode/zipcode or similar?

OK - just saw update - how can Inverness Avenue be renamed in 1939 to Invermay Avenue if it shows as Inverness Avenue on ER's in 1960's?

Hi, Lucy,

Thank-you.

So, where is the road?  I am interested in what the house looked like - as a contrast to where he came from.

Hi, kiwi jeanie.

I saw that Invermay Avenue and did wonder about it.  The probate record is very clearly typed, but it would not be the first one that manages to make a mess of the address.

However, I do have him, or someone with the same name, in 1963 at 26, Inverness Av, S2, in Auckland, Roskill.  He has, possibly, the wrong wife - or he left her behind in England....

Edwin John Biddlecombe.

Hi,

I have a typed probate index record for a man who lived, in 1967, at 'Inverness Av  Mount Roskill Auckland'.

I cannot find it on google maps.  Do road names change or is it a very small road or does googlemaps just not recognise it?

Thank-you for any assistance.

Link to British newspaper archive:
https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/

Otherwise you need to do research into local newspapers to Newington in 1968 for Margaret to see what papers existed and what archives are held.
Possibly post on a local history website for help there - they know what is available.

Have you managed to do a search of local newspapers to see if there is a report of either of the parents' deaths?

Hi, Madrid1983,

What country did the marriage take place in, and where were the 2 sons that you know of born?

Thanks

Added: The marriage was in Irvine if anyone else was interested.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: entry on 1921 census

Hi, Bookbox

Yes, I assumed she should not have been entered as she would have been elsewhere.
What I am trying to work out is who she married, as I am trying to find her death.  She is in several trees on Ancestry, death either unknown or wrong (of the ones I have checked). This 1921 census gives me a new clue.
