Glamorganshire / Trying to find this Article in Welsh Newspapers online.
« on: Friday 15 January 21 16:14 GMT (UK)  »

Iím having difficulty locating this Article in the Welsh Newspapers online Site.

I previously found it a few years back, and so I know itís there, - but I didnít save it at the time sadly:-(

Itís in (I think) The South Wales Daily News for 1898, and concerns a 10 year old girl who stole some items from 113 St Helens Road, Swansea.

Any help welcomed.

The Common Room / Might these Records still exist?
« on: Tuesday 12 January 21 10:31 GMT (UK)  »

I wasnít sure where to post this query, - and so will try here. Please redirect if Iím on the wrong Board.

I recently found, (on Ancestry) a record for a William Wilson, born 1894, Registered as an Indentured Apprentice in 1910 at Newport, South Wales, with The Tatem Steam Shipping Company.

I think that this is my late Uncle William Havelock Wilson, born Swansea in 1894.

I know that Records for the Merchant Navy are hard to come by for that timeframe, but would anyone on here know where might be a good starting point please?

Cheers, Romilly.

The Common Room / Trying to find this Advert from 1883
« on: Thursday 24 December 20 16:39 GMT (UK)  »

I wonder if anyone on here could help me with this please?

I'm looking for an Advert placed in a Manchester Newspaper in 1883 for 'The Wilsonia'.

The Advert was placed by 'William Wilson, Patentee and Inventor' and his Invention, 'The Wilsonia', was a magnetic device that generated electricity while you were wearing it, and prevented or cured a variety of diseases. (Sounds like it would come in useful at the moment:-)

I found it a while back, but it's currently eluding me...

He married Mary Briscoe, born 1767.

I can only find one child, Frances (Fanny) Born 1799 in Barbon, Westmorland.

Iím looking for any further children, but also wondering if this was a second marriage for James Wilson?

Any help welcomed,
Cheers, Romilly.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Can you link your DNA test to more than 1 Tree?
« on: Saturday 28 November 20 17:47 GMT (UK)  »

Iím not sure whether this is possible or not, - but thought that someone on here might know?

At present my DNA test is linked to my main Tree on there. Iíve also done a rehash Tree for my main paternal DNA match. Is it possible to also link my test to this Tree, to see which matches might turn up on Thrulines?
