I have 2 DNA matches on My Heritage who share about 60cM with me.  They share about 7000cM with each other which suggests they are the same person or are identical twins.

Their profiles give different ages.  They have different surnames and live in different continents.

I have tried making contact.

I'm puzzled.  Any suggestions?

My Heritage have a Chromosome Browser tool, - have you tried comparing them on that?

The Common Room / Re: Advice needed on Cancelling Subs at FindmyPast.
« on: Friday 06 May 22 19:16 BST (UK)  »

Many thanks all, - for looking.

Andrew Tarr, I signed up for the yearly Sub, meaning to cancel after viewing the 1921 Census. In the event, my sister died, - very unexpected, and I forgot all about cancelling 😨. FindMyPast say that Iíve missed the Ďcooling offí window, and so they wonít refund.

On the 1921 Census my Grandfather William James Wilson is still a Master Decorator and Contractor, still living at Y Plas, Llangyfellach Road, Treboeth, Swansea and employing all six of his sons as Apprentices!

No helpful relatives visiting from Manchester, and nothing newÖ and so Iím no further forward 😵‍💫😱.

Johnhood, - Iíve been asking about my paternal Grandfather William James Wilson, (1860 - 1937) ever since I joined RC in 2005. Lots of kind people on here have tried to help, but he continues to evade us:-(((

He says that he was born in Manchester, but Iíve never been able to find a Birth or Baptism for him. I do however have lots of DNA matches to the Kean and Butler families from Manchester, and I have wondered about a name changeÖ

As the 1931 Census apparently went up in smoke, I think that Iíve exhausted all potential avenues for finding him before he married my grandmother in Swansea in 1893.

Iíve been doing that for years Bumble B!

Iíve been able to find lots for other people, but my Grandfather has defeated me 😨😵‍💫

I subscribed to FindMyPast for years, - back to when it was 1837 somethingÖ However, these days I much prefer the search facilities on Ancestry, to which I also subscribe.

No other Censuses likely to become available in my lifetime, and Iíve exhausted all other possibilitiesÖ I just wonít leap in and subscribe in future.

How frustrating!

My initial thought was to sign up to view the 1921 Census and then cancel straight away. In the event, itís been 5 months, but thereís nothing more on there that I want to view.

And I still have a Brickwall with my paternal grandfather! 🤣🤣🤣

Can anyone on here advise me on how to cancel my subscription to the Find myPast Site please?

In order to view the 1921 Census as soon as it became available, I took out a subscription.

I now want to cancel it, but despite wading through my account details and trying to unsubscribe, it seems impossible to cancel before my year is up?

I get this message:

Your subscription is now cancelled. However, it will remain valid until Nov 23 2022, 10:24 UTC.

Obviously I donít want to auto renew, but is it not possible to cancel the current subscription? I know that you can with Ancestry, because Iíve done it previously, and been refunded.

Hi Keith,

Iíve never been able to find a Baptism for Evan Rees, (born 1810/Ď11) who married Anne Williams in Llangyfellach in June 1830.

Although it says on the marriage record that he was born in Llangyfellach, itís quite possible that this was a mistakeÖ

Their son, also Evan Rees, (1837- 1927) was my Great Grandfather.

So many Reesís! Itís difficult to sort them all out 😵‍💫

In the list of Victorian Occupations, thereís one for a :

Colour Man   mixed the dyes in the textile trade and also assistant to a house painter.

And so thatís a possibility?
